Who: OPEN
What: The Halloween party continues, now with far more elaborate costumes...
Where: The Empty Grave
When: 9 p.m. until
Warnings: Just assume this one's going to get naughty.
Notes: This is the transformation post! Again, subject line denotes location. Go shed those mortal skins!

As it had been with Pax Letale, so it was with its tenants: The shift from mundane to immortal was somehow creeping but immediate, passing almost beneath notice until the change was complete. Clothing faded rather than being shed; some deities remained in their humans' attire, some wore their old familiar kit, but all were utterly changed. The DJ played on, bartenders and waitstaff wound through the crowd, guests from outside the strange apartment danced and talked and flirted still with the partners who had brought them, all of them oblivious to the inhuman nature of the beings beside them. But for the residents of Pax, everything was about to change.

One moment she'd been in full, zombie glory, dressed like someone on laundry day. There had been a party, full of people and and lights and sound, which was still very much there...it had just gotten bigger? Or had she gotten smaller.

Goodness gracious, she was a bird. But while this might have been startling to Pru, it was not to The Morrigan. Not she who was used to flight over battlefields, to choose as she might amongst the dead. The Morrigan's Acorns, they called it when she had her pick of the heads of the slain. At that particular moment, however, she was wrestling her way out of a green zip-up hoodie that had engulfed her and once she was freed, she flapped onyx wings and screeched, sending a few milling about her stumbling back in surprise. She was not just any bird, but a crow, a carrion eater and symbol of death. Glancing at those about her, she cocked her head here and there, and took a few picking steps forward. Flapping once, twice, thrice, she took off into the air, the noise startling and irritating.

The Morrigan came to a glide over the bar, landing on it gracefully amid the myriad of drinks and people who were surprised to see a bird land where there was supposed to be no wildlife. She could choose to change from this form, yes, and yet no. The Morrigan preferred this form - there was no reason to change into one of her others, at least, not yet. Though she could see the endings of each of those around her, there was nothing to predict, and no one to ensnare or battle. She felt confused and yet not. Instead, she focused on one who wasn't necessarily familiar, but certainly moreso than the mortals around her.

She moved forward, her steps carefully chosen, and came to a stop at the elbow of the woman. The crow gave a soft clicking noise, as if inquiring who the woman was.

The sense of one such as this lovely black bird was difficult to mistake. Urðr turned her attention to that feeling - death and blood and love and many other things - as the crow flew up to her side. It was with a smile she greeted the other goddess, bird though she might have been. Birds deserved their honor, too, and all other manner of creatures. After all, these guises were just that: only guises. What was underneath was always infinitely more.

"Hullo, Milady Crow," she said, turning to face the bird more fully. "I am Urðr of the Norns, the Three of Fate in lands far north and on the other side of the world from here." She offered her finger to the bird for a shake. "And you are? You have the look of a Celt about you... for a time, our peoples mingled, but yours were fierce as our own, and drove our boys off." Urðr gave a laugh that bore no malice. "Do you remember?"

The Morrigan bobbed her head - ah yes, those northerners, with their ice and their boats. Neither the Celts nor their people had ever tolerated invaders well, but that attitude had certainly fallen to pieces in later years in dealing with others on their island. At least they'd never lost their pride.

Aye, dear. I am the one known as The Morrigan, though I have had many names, the voice rang clear through her mind and into Urðr's, having no doubt that the Norse goddess would have issue hearing it. I remember it. But there is no quarrel now, not since it seems that both of our times have passed. Or perhaps they are returning, since we are? It was a curious thing indeed - she had been passed from mortal shell to mortal shell, each time a different aspect of her opening more than another. And each time she had been in slumber, waiting for an awakening such as this. She couldn't help but wonder why, though she was not arrogant enough to not be grateful for the chance to be aware once more.
