Ren hadn't noticed the ear buds in her ears at first. He shook his head. He should have known better. He did that all the time. It was a strategy one did to remain aloof while among a crowd. Of course it completely contradicted his personal goal to be more outgoing with people. He needed to be more social to become a well rounded person, or so TV psychiatrists seemed to say.
"It's alright. Don't worry about it." He watched at the earbud swung in her grasp, and then shook his head and blinked as he broke himself from getting stuck staring. Getting hypnotized in the elevator was probably not the best idea.
Ren tilted his head at her as she spoke. Was it him or did it seem like she was moving and speaking through molasses? A little slow and deliberate. As if she needed to make sure of what she said before she said it.
"Oh yeah. I moved in a little while ago. I live on the fourth floor." He pointed upward and then slid his hand into his hair, scratching the back of his head. The thought of moving in and using the stairwell reminded him of what Mirza, his neighbor, had done, and in heels no less. "The elevator makes it much easier. There is a dolly in the lobby if you need one. I can show you were it is."
"You must really like this holiday," He leaned over to peek inside the box. "Are you going to the Halloween party then? I'll be there dressed as a samurai. Not very original am I?" He smiled a little embarrassed at his admission. "At least I'm not going as a ninja though."
