His first words were lost on her, just his mouth moving soundlessly while Adrian crooned, the music still blaring in her ears, though as soon as he was inside the elevator she hit the 2 again and popped one of the earbuds out. The doors dinged arrival and then slid closed again to start the journey upwards.
"I'm sorry, I didn't hear you," she started, swinging the free earbud in a semi-circle to denote the source of her deafness. A wan smile ghosted over her features, there and then gone though her face wasn't impassive nor stoic, simply blank, as she adjusted the box back to in front of her, her knees bent slightly to hold the weight and leaned back against the wall of the car for comfort, eyes watching the newcomer in a friendly sort of stare.
"I'm Prudence, and yeah, moving in today, actually," she gave a nod towards the box to indicate its explanation. Her voice was light, speaking in slow intonations that seemed carefully drawn out, and her overall demeanor was entirely relaxed. "Second floor, so at least the trip's not too bad, but I wasn't about to carry the boxes up the stairs. You live here too? What floor are you on?" She shifted the box to the side again, hand held out to tap the correct button.
