Thank god he had made it in time. The elevator had been acting a little tricky with him lately. Taking him to floors he hadn't wanted to go to, or the car never actually coming to pick him up. It had forced him to have to run down the stairs every morning so that he wouldn't miss the bus to work on the days he didn't bum a ride from Chris. He didn't like breathing heavily on the funny smelling buses and then getting to work sweaty and winded. It made everything just a little more difficult.
But this time he caught the elevator on his way back in. He had been on his feet a lot already, and didn't relish the idea of going up all the way to the fourth floor. The elevator ride would be perfect, as long as it didn't get stuck in between floors or anything like that. Good thing Ren wasn't claustrophobic, but he did watch a lot of movies where things like that happened, so his mind did tend to wander. Oh, look the doors were opening.
"Sorry, sorry, I just never seem to catch this thing anymore." He ducked in. He had changed out of his work clothes, they were in the duffel bag hanging at his side, and was dressed down, a casual look made up of a graphic T-shirt, cargoes, and sneakers. He pushed his hair back. He still hadn't gotten around to getting a hair cut and his bangs were now down just past his eyes and he imagined he was getting some mildly hostile looks from his superiors at the Disney theme park.
Ren glanced over at the other occupant, quickly adverting his eyes back to the sort of shiny metal doors of the elevator car. The last girl he had met on this thing hadn't been happy about sharing it with him. Perhaps people just didn't like to talk on elevators, or maybe he just had bad luck socially.
"Uh, Hi. My name's Ren. Are you...new to the building?" There was a bit of hesitation to his question because while he had been living in the building about a month now, he still felt like a new comer.
