He wrinkled his nose, his dark brow furrowing. High school had been no picnic for him, and though he could well understand bearing the brunt of groundless, unearned animosity, 'hate' seemed a remarkably strong word for it. But realizing this left him more curious than that judgmental; he could hardly apply his own anecdotal evidence to everyone he met, and for all he knew, her experience really had been so bad. "Hate you?" He shook his head, his lips thinning to a vaguely downturned line. "That seems harsh. I guess you could be secret evil, or slow-burning evil, but right now I can think of at least a couple people easier to hate than you. And I'm a pretty forgiving guy, even of them."
He sat back in his chair, wriggling slightly as he found a more comfortable position. "I don't know about paranormal psych, but maybe you could start with abnormal psych and work your way more niche. If you ever felt like going back to school, I mean."
