She stared at him like he really was dumb. She was starting to figure out the rest of it. The scratch pad, the way he was looking at her lips instead of her eyes when she spoke. Honey had to learn to be observant. It was one of the things that had made her a good lawyer.

Still, his "word" stung and she got defensive, "I don't know why? He's the one that wanted me to come here. He's the one that begged me to drop everything and come out here so he could inherit his fortune."

Yeah. She pulled another draw from the bottle. It helped a little. So much so that she shrugged, "I think I would have rather if you murdered him." she looked down at her toes.

Was that a cockroach? No. It was just lint. She stepped on it like she should kill it anyways.

"So this is a real shit hole you live in. I am surprised he sunk this low." she said, looking up at him. If Vince hurt her she felt the need to hurt someone else. At least lately.
