Aura wanted to ask him if he could do anything strange, if he had any abilities, if he was a freak like she was, but she didn't. The last thing she wanted to do was run him off, and she was equally frightened of pushing too much and having him disappear. "I found out I was adopted when I was five," she told him, not moving out of his arms. "Because I don't exactly look Chicana," she said with a touch of sarcasm. "But all they knew was that I was born in Anaheim, had a twin brother and was named Olivia." She paused. "It could all be a coincidence. Some horrible trick of fate that would only make sense in a telenovela," she said reluctantly. He felt safe, and he felt solid and real, and she didn't want to move.
