Third Day; Around Noon
It was days like this that Riley remembered why so many people never made it as professional boxers. Melinda was putting her through her paces a thousand times over, dragging her to Hell and then making her carry all their luggage back. She had a fight in two weeks, and this was the "cram" workout before the rest that let her muscles rebuild and recover for the big day. Report at the gym by 5, work until your muscles are bleeding. Quick lunch. Then back in the gym until 5. Nearly twelve hours of nonstop action, and it was tiring.
As Melinda the Prison Guard granted Riley her hour off for lunch, the escaped prisoner initially wanted to run and find a refuge where she could nap. But she recalled seeing a message on Pax Letale's forums about an art show that one of her new neighbors was putting on, and how they should all show up as a show of friendliness. Riley could get behind that.
After smiling nicely at one of the managers of the gym, Riley commandeered his computer to access the forums, getting the address of the art gallery where the show was going on. It wasn't too far, and the cardio would only help her. Everybody wins.
She took a brief cold shower so she didn't leak sweat all over the nice art, putting her fire engine hair into a tight knot and throwing on a fresh tank top and mesh shorts before leaving the gym with her wallet and a sports bottle full of Gatorade. On the way to the gallery, she stopped at a bakery and purchased a chocolate chip muffin. Carrying the little white bag like a precious treasure, she jogged to the gallery.
At first, she ran past it, having to backtrack and search before the small shop was really visible. She pushed the door open, peering inside. It seemed to be empty at first, though on second glance she saw a young man with dark hair standing about. Waving her sports bottle, she smiled brightly. "Hello!" she said, scooting inside. "I'm looking for Simon? He's the artist that painted all these," she gestured with the white bag to the paintings. "Is he here?"
