Kami blinked after the retreating woman, thought about calling after her, but shrugged in the end and turned back to Shae. "I hope she comes back soon," she announced and, to his surprise, there was only honest hope in her voice. Maybe a touch of regret at the abrupt loss of a new face, too. She glanced up at Shae's expression as if to check his sanity at the mention of Pax's redecoration scheme; the first night they met, he had been decidedly uneasy about it.
