It had been a strange night for Zara. Adjusting to the fact that Navid's and her apartment had been transformed into some sort of sacred wood, and the smell - she shuddered. The smell was something awful. Navid had gone out to get air fresheners, while Zara had opted to stay behind and handle a few things around the house - though she'd overestimated her tolerance of the stench. She decided, ultimately, to go get the mail - if Navid wasn't back by the time she got back to the apartment, and it hadn't lightened up at all, maybe she'd go for a swim. When she got to the lobby, however, she was suddenly struck by the same wave of familiarity as she had when she and Navid had met Rick and Mirza in the stairwell the other day; it almost doubled her over as the elevator doors opened, and when she finally entered the lobby, she had to press herself to the wall to steady her trembling hands. She blinked once, twice; then, she moved forward in silent wonder, looking all around. It was beautiful - it was limestone and color and hieroglyphs, and familiar as home. This - this! She wouldn't have minded as much if their home had ended up like this. She was still looking around in wonder when she realized she wasn't alone.
