The woman's desire for distance was obvious, so Brighid backed herself to the wall of the car until she could lean against it and watch somewhat warily. "Oh, aye," she assured, trying to sound empathetic. In fact, Brighid wasn't sure if she'd had one of those days, and she knew for a fact that, if she had, she'd never revealed so in public: it simply wasn't in her nature. Glancing down at her phone to check the time, Brighid decided she would give it ten minutes before trying to contact either Samuel or Lia, the only building residents whose numbers she actually had, to see if they could wrangle a number for maintenance or someone who could get the elevator unstuck.
