Who: Mirza but open to anyone.
What: Just sittin' around, contemplating life and avoiding the telephone, yo.
Where: Stairwell!
When: Late in the evening of Sept. 16.
Warnings: TBD

Mirza was getting tired of this journal thing. It just didn't seem like he could say the right thing whatsoever. For once in his life, he was feeling completely out of his depth and unsure of himself. That did not happen. Ever. So he had left his apartment just as his phone had started ringing. (A quick glance back had revealed that it was his boss, Tony. Nooooo thank you.) Honestly, he hadn't even bothered to put on shoes or a shirt and had just taken his keys with him since all he was going to do was sit on the stairs between the fourth and third floors.

The arches of his feet were aching already even as he sat on the stairs halfway down. Or was that pessimistic? No, it was down as he had been walking down. It wasn't a glass half empty/full moment. He rested his elbows on a stair behind him and leaned back as much as he could without being uncomfortable. Maybe this move had been a bad idea. Alright, he couldn't rightly stay in a building that was going to be torn down but maybe he should have kept looking or something. Then again, he had to remind himself that not everyone was going to like him no matter how much it hurt his poor, tender heart.

He tapped his fingernails on the stairs, looking up at the ceiling like it was going to help him. "Oh what to do, what to do," he muttered to himself. He just could not decide.

"I guess I haven't been. I don't get out much" That was because he spent most of his free time in his room playing video games or drawing. He felt like such a shut in. He had certainly never had the experience of the club scene. If he had, his brain might explode and come leaking out of his nose.

"We'll see. Maybe I should just start on smaller waves first and then build up to the ones I would probably need water wings for." He would never wear something so silly out in public. It would make him far to aware of himself and everyone else as well. It was like he had a permanent form of stage fright.

Things like that really happened? All of it sounded more like a comic book world or in a movie to him than something that could actually occur in the real world. Maybe he was really sheltered. That made it all the more important that he experience what his new home had to offer.

He blinked and looked down as suddenly the smaller man was clinging to his arm like a child or like how he imagined a girlfriend would. He tested Mirza's grip and pulled on his arm a bit, although; the idea of working in a place like that would probably have made the hair on the back of his neck stand up.

"A-are you ok?" He looked a little anxious and uncomfortable, but if it was comforting the other man, he could probably endure it.

Ren blushed slightly at the change in subject and now regretted the admission. "Ah, well I normally keep to myself, and I don't go on dates very often." It was all excuses really. He had almost been with a girl once, back at college, but she had had to leave early on their first date, and he had been chickenshit and hadn't called her back.

"We should definitely change this," Mirza said with enthusiasm. He was always for taking people out on the scene and breaking them of introverted habits. It was fun. It sometimes made crazy interesting people... Sometimes it didn't but hey, he at least would try.

Water wings... Hee. Such fun. "Or you could, you know, try on a mound of sand first. I hear that's a valid learning technique." Heard. Saw on a cartoon. Whatever. Same difference.

Yeah, things like that happened. It might have sounded unreal but when you worked in sleazy joints, sleazy things happened. He'd do a lap dance, yeah, but he damn well wasn't going to do anything else and he didn't know why some guys felt it was necessary to whore themselves out for extra cash. If you couldn't make due... Well that was your own damn fault.

Mirza's grip was not iron. If Ren really wanted to, he could've pulled his arm away but he really hoped that Ren wouldn't want to. "Yeah... Well no and yes. I hate working there but I don't have any other talents besides dancing and taking my clothes off. Yay for me I guess." Mirza had no secrets really. If Ren asked him a question, Mirza was going to answer as honestly as he could.

It was completely adorable the way Ren blushed and while it may have made the Asian boy feel uncomfortable, Mirza wasn't really going to let up without being told No. "That's unfortunate. You're very cute. I'd date you if you were into boys. You know, if we're going only on a short conversation and appearances. You seem like a very nice guy. The kind that wouldn't cheat or hurt someone on purpose."

"Ah, maybe next time I have a day off we could." He smiled. "I'm not much of a partier though, just so you know." He had been drunk before, but normally he drank by himself. Chris was a fun drunk though, but man they had both come a long way since high school parties.

It was a little strange having anyone, let along the smaller man he had just met cling to him. The only time it had really ever happened before was on a trip to visit family in Japan. A few of his younger cousins would cling to their "American" cousin. It wasn't a bad feeling, it was just different.

"See now, I hate my job too, but I think it's a requirement for me to keep my clothes on. I do work for Disney after all." He sat back up, popping his back. Laying with your back on the stairs really wasn't comfortable.

"I'm sure you have other talents. Moving in heels may not be something to put on a resume, but hey, I wouldn't have thought of it."

"Uh, thanks?" He coughed at the mention of Mirza wanting to date him. "Wait, I thought you said you were into girls?"

Changing the conversation away from him. Ren wasn't ready to answer or think about those kinds of things. Just because he hadn't had a date since college didn't mean he was suddenly interested in the same sex, right? Oh crap! Ren was busily trying to think of a way to turn off his brain that didn't include dying on the spot.

"Don't worry," Mirza noted in a sing song sort of voice, "I can fix that. I can make a partier out of anyone." Well, he hoped he could anyway. His reputation for partying hard was on the line here!

He laughed at the joke about Disney. Ever since moving here he had heard people talk about working at Disney and complaining. God, how they complained. And the secrets! You couldn't even talk about the people in the costume characters (even if you could see their face) just to keep the magic alive. What the Hell?

"Uh-uh. I don't. I always wanted to be a dancer... Just not this kind. I fucked up my grades in high school and couldn't go to an arts school. So I just kind of take dance lessons and audition and hope and pray and... fail. A lot." That might have been too much information but Mirza wasn't exactly one to have a whole lot of secrets.

He arched an eyebrow at the strange question and laughed, "Never heard of someone being into both girls and guys? 'Cause I am with a slight preference towards guys. That doesn't mean I'm going to maul you though. I mean - no more than this." He didn't want Ren to think he was a rampant sex fiend (even though he kind of was) that he wouldn't be safe with.

Ren smiled a little and looked over his glasses at the small man singing about how he would turn Ren into a club animal. "Why do you want me to go to a club? Don't tell me you want to see me out on the dance floor acting like a drunk fool. Because that would probably happen." Ren liked alcohol, but he had little tolerance for it. Because of that he was prone to doing stupid shit when drinking.

Ren recalled watching a movie called "Flash Dance" with one of his sisters when he had been younger. The girl in that movie hadn't had the right requirements for her to get into art school or the dancing troupe, whatever it was. Maybe things just didn't really work like that. It was only a movie after all, and made in the 80's too.

"I'm guessing you don't have a bucket of water pour on you at the end of your dance, right?" He tried to ease the tension and turn the conversation in a way to make the other guy smile.

"Of course I have, I just," He furrowed his brow in thought as he tried to make the words come out easily. "I just haven't met anyone who admitted it so easily, and so quickly."

He arched an eyebrow at the idea of the smaller man mauling him. It was actually a kind of funny image to imagine. Like something out of a sitcom.

Mirza laughed, rubbing the back of his neck with a hand and smiling more at the ceiling rather than Ren. "I don't like to go alone and you're the one friend I have in the building. It's got nothing to do with you acting like a drunk fool. Besides, I'll be more drunk than you I'm sure..." Ren would probably have to make himself the designated driver unless they planned on catching a cab.

He blinked at the Flash Dance reference and arched an eyebrow, "Uh, no. All the other dancers would murder me because the stage would need to be mopped and everyone would leave. Or they'd slip and fall." Sometimes, reality just wasn't as fun as the movies was it?

Mirza licked his lips lightly and smiled almost shyly at his knees. With a little shrug of his shoulders he said, "I don't see why I should hide who I am. I'm perfectly comfortable with myself in all areas. If other people can't handle that then... they can fuck off."

Friend, huh? But hadn't they just met, or was making friends really this easy?

Ren looked forward and down the stairs in thought. Maybe it was as simple as keeping yourself apart from others. Mirza was pretty much laying everything out in front of him, hiding nothing of what he was, Ren assumed. He always tried to hide himself, his apartment, his hobbies away from others. It was more than just a fear of being ridiculed he thought. Analyzing it on a stairwell seemed awkward though.

He laughed softly and grinned at Mirza. "I don't know. I can get pretty smashed pretty quickly. Maybe we should get my friend Chris, he lives a floor down, and make him be our designated driver." Ah, the irony in that suggestion. He laughed to himself as he imagined Chris being stuck as the driver. He'd be so pissed.

He looked a little sheepish as Mirza took what was supposed to be a joke and talked about it seriously. "Yeah, and if they are all wearing heels, they would probably end up bruised in more places than just the feet if that happened."

There was something very powerful about not caring what other people thought and believing in yourself. Ren knew that very well and wished he had it. He was very aware of what others thought of him and it often dictated his actions, or inaction. Confidence always impressed him.

"Ah, I'm an animator. Or at least that is what I hope to be. My current job at Disney is just a way to get into the company, hopefully."

For Mirza, making friends really was this easy. Anyone who let him hang on them was his friend, m'kay?

So far, he hadn't hidden a thing from Ren. Even his piercings were kind of in full view since he had neglected to put a shirt on though he didn't try to hide those at all. But it was a very awkward thing to start analyzing your lifestyle on a stairway so Ren should probably just stop it right now. Stop.

"Oh the more the merrier!" Mirza was always for bringing people along. "I'd bring my sister Isra but she doesn't live in California... She's so fun to hang with though." And now he was a little home sick. He missed all his siblings. All four of them. And he missed his parents. There were a lot of times when he thought about just giving up and going home... But he was still here.

He laughed and shook his head, "The dancers don't wear heels, silly! People come to see men, not boys in dresses." Yes, he was taking it seriously even though he was laughing. It was educational, right? Right.

Oh dear, a Disney boy. "You're going to be there forever, honey. I've had friends in the same position as you and they all eventually quit. They got tired of the strict and stupid policies and all the secrets they had to keep from their friends." The Mouse was ridiculously secretive. Even he knew you couldn't even talk about the people in the character costumes. It was all about keeping the illusion and the magic.

"It would be kind of difficult to bring someone along who wasn't in California already." Ren had a good natured smile. He had sisters too, but he wouldn't dream of taking them out partying. The idea that either of those two sticks in the mud could actually have a good time was at war with Ren's perception of them. Of course he hadn't been at college with either of them, so who knew?

"Ok, so you work at a joint where they cater primarily to women? Although I guess there is a certain type of man who would go to see that too." Ren wouldn't admit it out loud, but he thought that Mirza would probably look pretty good in a dress.

"No, I won't. I hate it. I don't even see the actors really. I work in the Animation Building as an usher." Ren had already promised himself that if the job at Disney didn't pan out, which it looked like it wouldn't, he wouldn't remain there. He couldn't prove his father wrong if he stayed an usher his whole life.

"Actually, I've been thinking about making like a Web based cartoon. I just need some inspiration."

Mirza laughed at the simplicity and easy fact of that particular statement. Yeah it would be hard to drag someone along who wasn't in the state. That didn't mean he wouldn't try to drag them out anyhow. His eldest sister and one of the triplets would get so mad at him if they didn't get to go clubbing with him. It would've been funny really actually.

He nodded, tucking an errant strand of hair behind his ear, "Yeah, on both parts. Women and men show up for the shows. Sometimes even married couples come in which is weird." He did not see the need to mention that sometimes those couples tried to pay the strippers to go home with them...

Mirza scrunched up his nose. He really did not like the idea of working at Disney. They were evil. Pure, unadulterated evil. "God, you don't even get to do the drawing stuff on main street or whatever it is?" He hadn't been to Disney Land in ages to be honest.

Alright, Ren shouldn't have said that. Now he was going to do the stupidest idea ever. "You should do one about stripper vampire slayers. Gratuitous violence and flesh are always favorites on the net." He was mostly kidding at least.
