When he took hold of her hand, she looked up in surprise, and really, she could have looked at him for much longer, taken as she was by him. A seat was taken in the car, and her reverie shattered by the cackling of the girls behind them. Quickly, Emma loosed her hand from Elijah's, shoving both between her knees, fingers laced together. Her head was bowed and she was pressed as tight as she could to her side of the buggy to give him his space. This suddenly didn't seem as good of an idea as before.
