Louder than silence
Who: Aurora and Aphrodite and OPEN
What:Aurora begins to embrace her inner goddess and who knows what else
Where: 9th floor
When: 4/20 7AM
Warnings Look. My pals. My guys. My peeps. Anyone's muse who wanders by will be flirted with more than Aurora normally would, more innuendos, etc. Just be prepared for that. Also her power of Attraction will be stronger intermittently.
You look very plain Aurora, this is a big week, you should look more...elegant.
Excuse you! I am always elegant! Aurora barely refrained from saying the words out loud, though her face did outwardly twist in offended irritation.
So that's what it takes to finally get you to respond back to me, I had to call you plain. There was amusement tinting the voice in her head, the one that sounded a bit like her but at once so much more
Aurora rolled her eyes at that, smoothing out her simple but classy little red and black dress as she sat down at her vanity, I had been hoping you were just my mind retaliating for lack of a current creative project. Women hearing voices rarely goes well in the stories I have read.
There was a quiet hmpf from the voice as Aurora tied her hair back, Not voices, just one. Mine, I'm here to look out for you, lovely one.
A pause then, What, are you my patron saint or something? before she applied the first step in her arduous makeup process. It was tedious, but her natural beauty wouldn't always be sufficient and it was fun to change things a little.
Laughter, the melodious sort that petite actresses playing innocent love interests tried to imitate but it always came out irritating instead. But from the voice it wasn't, and it made her toes curl with a warm feeling she couldn't pinpoint nor resist, No dear, I am Aphrodite, or Venus if you prefer. I am older than your mother's saints that she mutters to. But I am here to help you, and you're here to help me.
Aurora didn't even pause as she blended foundation across her face in quick, practiced motions, Not exactly selfless then are you? Wait. Her hands did hesitate then before resuming their motions, taking comfort in the familiarity of the ritual, Aphrodite? The Greek Goddess of Love? This was all unreal, but then again her floor was a desert she would have to get past in order to get to the 9th which she found much more to her liking.
In the mirror her reflection seemed to flicker until there was another woman standing beside her as if she had stepped out of another world. The sponge in Aurora's hand dropped into her lap and her mouth dropped open at the sight. The woman was gorgeous, with skin darker than her own and thick red curls that seemed to be the color of flame tumbling down her body. Taller than Aurora, with green eyes like sea glass and the loveliest jawline she had ever seen.
And oh! Hands so soft when she took Aurora by the chin and tilted her head up to her, "Those like us don't need to be selfless darling. You're a very lucky woman." It was ridiculous, Aurora had spent a great deal of time around beautiful people, in private and in public, but she still felt giddy and flushed like she was fifteen again, "You need to get better at taking, my dear. A little liner around your eyes and that lipstick that makes your lips look like wet strawberries and I want you to go out and enjoy the gifts this week has to offer, without restraint." The woman dragged her thumb across Aurora's lower lip and her heart pounded in her chest.
She grinned saucily even as she started to fade, "Oh and the purple dress, with the ruffles!"
"But that would look out of place!" Of course she finally regains her words when it's time to argue.
Another dismissive gesture from Aphrodite apparently, a thing Aurora could not see but feel somehow, We never look out of place.
So that's how she found herself under an olive tree in a climate that felt more like Spain than California, a bottle of wine at her side and a book in her lap in a dress that should have made her feel ridiculous but somehow she still felt like she owned this place. According to her parents, Aurora was born conceited, rarely having the self confidence issues of other children or their shyness, but what she was feeling now was different. A gut feeling that said she was worth all this and more, that this place was lucky to have her.
It made it easy to relax at least, even if she wasn't sure what was supposed to happen now, but Aphrodite hadn't objected yet and was radiating a quiet anticipation in her mind.
