Tyler had made sure his younger sisters got to where they were supposed to be before he even set foot in his own school. It was just part of being the big brother (though he'd have escorted his older sister, too, if she'd have let him), and as an added bonus it made sure he wasn't early to school like some kind of dork. There was no reason to be to school early unless there was football practice in the morning.
Nearly empty backpack hanging loosely on one shoulder, he sauntered up to the building with the strut he'd been practicing all summer. Though he didn't actually expect any of his friends to be hanging around outside, he took a look anyway. It was a surprise to see someone waving, but the guy...
He fumbled mid-strut, and spent the next few seconds trying to recover and figure out why. It was because he was trying to figure out who it was, he decided. Obviously the guy knew him. And it was because he was so weird. Why would he know someone like that, with the spiky hair and the boots (which were actually sort of badass, not something he'd wear but still cool) and the piercing dark eyes and... no, no, the guy's eyes weren't piercing. They were weird. Like the rest of him. Including the boots. Yeah.
Come to think of it, didn't he know him? Sort of? Tyler thought on it for a moment, and then realized... oh, yeah, that friend of Billy's. They hadn't actually talked much, and he hadn't liked the guy when they'd first been introduced because Billy was hanging out with him so much. His name was... Adam, yeah, that was it. Hesitantly - because everything affected his reputation, not for any other reason at all - he lifted a hand to give a casual wave in response, heart beating strangely. Hey, it had been a long walk from dropping Lexie off at her class. Of course his heart was beating fast.
