Adam might have thanked the stranger for his intervention; any other time, it would have been the only course of action. As it was, though, his thoughts were first with Alexandria, then with Momoko, his black-rimmed eyes wide as he appraised them both. Neither of them seemed fully sober, Alexandria least of all. And then there were Momoko's bruises: dark smudges marring her fair skin, though not nearly so bad as Adam might have expected. His arm tightened around his friend, his hand soft as it stroked her trembling flesh. He prayed they wouldn't be forced to stay, to spend the rest of the evening giving detailed statements over and over again, particularly given his friends' current state. He looked to their newly made acquaintance, a questioning cast to his sharply quirked brow.
