The tension surrounding their little corner of the bar kept rising, the girl bringing too much uncertainty for Cassie's liking. But she was letting Lukas take point, spotting the recognition in eyes, even if it was veiled by confusion.
Just as suddenly as the girl entered, she left, taking all the attention with her and all the wind out of Cassie's sails. She wasn't sure what she had been waiting to happen, but nothing wasn't it. She let herself slump slightly back against the bar before turning back to Lukas. She gave him a half shrug, her free hand gesturing off to the slip of pink disappearing through the crowd. She wasn't an expert on these quiet communications, but her signals were clear. She had no clue what just happened or who that was, but Lukas should pursue if he liked. She hadn't the energy or the desire to bother for any answers, but maybe he did.
