There was something entertaining in her calling him a gentleman - even when the comment was not directed at him - but Samuel took it as a clear and final sign that perhaps the train wrecks that had been their last meetings were well and truly behind them now. He reached for the fresh glass without a moment's hesitation, glad to have something to busy his hands. "No," he said. The smirk playing at the corner of his mouth indicated a number of thoughts on this score, not least his certainty that she would not be surprised by his answer. "I'm happy to watch people dance - certain people, anyway - but I prefer to stay comfortably close to the bar. And anyway, I think for something to be danceable, it has to have a beat you could actually follow." He gestured to the speakers with one index finger, his hand tightly clasping his fresh glass. "Listen to this. Fake drums don't count."
