Adam's own small smile reflected hers as he thought on their shared past, the tumultuous relationships with her frequently bullying brother and their mercurial circle of friends just one facet of long, often trying years. He missed entirely her comment on Pierce, knowing him only by what few stories she had told of the man. Toying with his drink, he listened for the clinking of ice low beneath the hum of music, looking up only when he realized how far he had mentally drifted from his friends. He glanced to the still darkened platform before them, dark-limned eyes watching the stagehands as they set up for the opening band.
"Pax," he said, distracted even now. "That's right. How did you meet Alex, Mo?"
