Nish was standing not far away from Isobel watching Max easily escape from Daniel’s hold. They demonstrated the move several times, Max making sure to point out important parts of the escape process, and Nish found herself imagining herself in that position. It wasn’t hard…Stephen had restrained her more than once, and Abel had snuck up on her, though not exactly in that way. But knowing how to get out of some of those situations opened up all new possibilities for her.

When Max directed the handful of people to pair off and try practicing the moves, Nish looked around herself and the closest person to her was Isobel. She smiled at her, vaguely remembering bumping into her at the grocery store a while back. “I guess we’re partners,” she said with a smile. “Nish…you’re Isobel, right? We met at Whole Foods?”
