"Alright, honey. Sure." Given the disparity in their height, it might have been easier to simply pluck her from the ground and carry her to their as yet undetermined destination. But that was a level of effort Samuel was not yet ready to exert, requiring a sort of intimacy even he was not keen to initiate. His brow furrowed, a string of expletives parading through his thoughts as he wished for, and cursed the staff for not having, a posted resident listing of any sort. Ordinarily he would have been grateful for that privacy; now, it was merely an obstacle in the way of his goal. He ignored her pawing at him, slipping her arm around him, picking her up from the ground. The awkward position made their progress toward the hallway all the slower, but it was more than they'd had before.
"So what name will be on your headstone, little dead animal that you are?" he asked, a faintly impatient note coloring his tone. "And what apartment are we gonna bury you in?"
