all my life I want to party until all my life is done
Who: BB, Alice, & Max.
What: Girl's night!
Where: BB's apartment, 207.
When: Late Friday night.
Everything was ready, or at least, as ready as it was ever going to be, in BB's mind. She'd Redboxed some movies (specifically Bad Moms and Secret Life of Pets), popped a huge bowl of popcorn along with purchasing a decent sized bag of kettle corn, and had some hard ale and lemonade on hand along with soda. She assumed Alice would supply something sweet (pastry and innuendo-wise), and had no idea what Max liked, but figured they could always call out for pizza if it came to that. Her living slash sleeping area was cleared away, blankets and pillows covering the floor and aimed toward the TV. Dressed in yellow and blue duckie pajamas, she was kicking one pillow into better placement when a knock on the door announced her first guest; they were greeted with a squeal of excitement before BB's face appeared in the open entryway.
"Max! Brownie points for arriving first, but that doesn't mean I'm not gonna draw penises on your face if you fall asleep first," she joked as she held the door wide for the woman's entrance.
Max laughed and stepped inside, holding up the bottle of tequila and a bag with limes and a few snacks inside. “I wasn’t sure what to bring, but this always seems to work,” she grinned, glancing around the room. “Looks like I didn’t get the memo about the dress code,” she said, looking over BB’s pajamas, and down at her own jeans and sleeveless t-shirt. She didn’t mind, she’d slept in her underwear before...and what could happen? They’re all girls here.
Alice just stepped off the elevator when she saw Brittany’s door swing closed. Supporting a large baking tin that had a tight seal of plastic wrap over the top, she made her way down the hall with her sheep slippers swish-swishing over the carpeting. It felt like college, meandering the halls of her apartment complex in her light green pj pants, slippers, and NYU t-shirt.
Knocking on the door lightly, Alice shifted the baking tin to grip each end with both hands. She frowned at its contents--it was her first try of brownies with little pig butts sticking out of the pieces--but she wasn’t sure if they were quite as she envisioned.
BB shrugged at the fact that Max had apparently "forgotten" pajamas; she had named the event a sleepover, but she wasn't going to deny herself the pleasure of staring at the other woman's ass in those jeans. Just as she was putting the tequila and other snacks Max had brought over, she beelined for the door, opening it wide with a grin to Alice's face.
"Skittles!" She started forward for a hug, stopping halfway to instead remove the tray from Alice's hands and bring it into the tiny expanse of her apartment, setting it down on her bright yellow dining room table. Then she turned around, squeezed Alice around the middle to pull her inside the apartment in a whirlwind fashion.
"OK, so, introductions," she said, turning to face Max and gesturing to Alice. "This is Alice, Alice, this is Max, Max, this is Alice. Alice'n I have been friends since high school, Max I met down by the apartment mailboxes a few days ago. So now that you guys are both up to speed, which movie do you wanna watch first?" She crossed the room, grabbing the DVD boxes of the movies she'd rented. "Kid's movie or something more age appropriate?"
Max laughed at BB’s obvious enthusiasm, shaking Alice’s hand when they were introduced and looking very interested in the brownies. “Oh my god, is that pig bums?” she asked, eyes widening at the sight of all that frosting. “I’m going to probably eat about half of these, I’m kind of a sugar junkie.”
She looked up at the movie choices BB held up and shrugged, not having an opinion either way. “I haven’t seen either, so I’ll let you pick,” she told her with a good-natured smile.
“I haven’t seen Bad Moms,” Alice offered, brushing past the pair and returning to her brownies. She pulled the plastic wrap free and frowned at them. “And yes, pig butts made out of marzipan. I’m not sure if the marzipan will compliment the brownies well though. This is a trial run, so you guys have to give me honest feedback.”
BB was already putting the DVD in the player, ready to let it run in the background as they talked. This was the first time she'd had so many people over in her fairly new place, and she was far too excited to let something like a movie sideline conversation and pastries. Once that was going, she put the case atop the TV and joined Max and Alice around her table.
"Pft, trial run," she said, shaking her head while smiling. "Don't believe a word, Max. She's fantastic at this stuff. I swear, you must be putting LSD in these things, Alice. There's no reasonable explanation for why your stuff tastes so good." She reached out and helped herself to one of the pigs, biting into the frosted butt without hesitation. As she chewed, her throat made a yummy sound bordering a little on faked orgasm, but the sentiment was as realistic as BB ever got. "Jesus, these are good. And you know what they'll be even better with? Tequila." Without waiting for agreement, she turned into her kitchen and started getting down mugs -- one was from the Newseum in DC, talking about verbs and their uses; another from CSU Long Beach, sporting their colors; the last was green mug sporting a giant eyeball via Mike Wazowski from Monsters, Inc. She grabbed the alcohol that Max had brought over and carried the entirety of her spoils to the table, which she all but tumbled from her arms onto its surface. She opened the tequila and started pouring.
"Tell me when," she said, the look on her face implying that she'd likely not stop.
Max grinned, picking at her own brownie and trying not to devour the entire thing in one bite. “I’m not working tomorrow, so I’m ready to get shitfaced,” she said. She turned to Alice with half a pig butt in between her fingers. “These are amazing,” she purred, “is that bubblegum flavour in there?” She picked up one of the mugs and took a good swig, about a shot’s worth, and then followed it up with a pig-butt chaser, letting it melt down her throat to soothe the alcohol’s burn.
“So what’s this movie about?” she asked, settling back on the couch with her legs crossed. For someone who hangs around actors on a regular basis, she really had not much idea about their work. She rarely had the time or will to sit and watch a movie.
“The pigs are all different flavors, I’m not sure which one I should go with when I make the marzipan. So I guess you got the one with a twinge of bubblegum,” Alice replied, grabbing a brownie for herself and snagged the Mike Wazowski mug before Brittany could do her damage. Snagging one of the bottles of soda, she poured a good dose of it into the mug and sat it before Brittany. “Just top me off, please. I still have to open the bakery tomorrow. And I think the movie is about a bunch of mom’s who are just… hilarious bad, right? Or ‘bad’ I should say,” Alice glanced from Max to Britt.
"No, not just bad," BB replied, after having taken a swig of her drink and another bite of pastry pig butt. She had the courtesy to chew with her mouth closed, then swallow, before speaking again. "It's about these moms who're fuckin' tired of being taken for granted and having to be perfect all the time, so they decide to be moms but also themselves and it's fuckin' awesome and I would just die to be in the same room as Mila Kunis." She turned her attention toward Max.
"Speaking of, and I don't care if you blind item this or whatever, but who's the weirdest celebrity you've ever, you know," BB made a karate hand-chopping motion. "Kee-yah'd for or whatever? Oh, Alice, Max here is a fuckin' celeb bodyguard, can you believe it??"
Max was listening to the two girls chatter around her, but then her eyes widened a little when she was suddenly quizzed. She took another good sip of her drink before answering. “Kanye West,” she said without even having to think about it. “Seriously, that guy is a douche magnet. I think I had to…forcibly remove...fans like, four times in one night.” She giggled, already feeling slightly tipsy, the alcohol loosening her tongue. She was a beer girl, so straight tequila was a whole different game for her. It had just seemed like the thing to bring to a slumber party though.
“Oh, wow,” Alice replied, her eyes widening. Despite all of Brittany’s connections and constant touch with stardom--even if it was just reporting about them--Alice was still a little starstruck whenever she met someone who had connections. In DC, it wasn’t connections to celebrities but politicians and in Alice’s opinion, celebrity ties are far more interesting. “Who is the nicest celebrity you’ve ever worked with, Max?”
BB made a farting noise. "C'mon, Alice, we can do better than that. I guess, no, wait, Max, humor her," she interjected, leaning over the back of one kitchen chair, her green Mike Wazowski mug hanging loosely from her hand. Alcohol was already burning a hole in her gut. The movie blared in the background. "Lemme guess, Gwyneth Paltrow? She seems like such an ass. Wait, no. A pretentious ass."
Max snorted into her drink. “She’s not just an ass, she’s an asshat,” she laughed, “thank god I never had her as a client, I’d probably kill her myself.” She thought for a minute though, took another drink, taking her time considering. Her brain was starting to move at the speed of sludge. “Nicest? Wentworth Miller is a fucking sweetheart. Seriously, a teddy bear.” She chewed her lip a little more and then snapped her fingers, pointing at BB with excitement. “Jennifer Lawrence. Every bit as cool as you think.” BB's eyebrows wriggled at the prospect, but for once she buried her mouth in her cup.
“She seems nice,” Alice replied, smiling softly for a moment before narrowing her eyes and looking at her friend. “You know I like hearing what actors sound friendly. I like thinking that I could be friends with them if I met them.” She smiled and took a sip of her drink as her phone set off a ding. Glancing at it from across the room, she ignored it for a moment and looked at Max. “I guess you can tell that I don’t really know any celebrities.”
Alice’s phone pinged again and she turned away, reaching for it on the counter and smiling as she looked over an obvious text she had received, for a moment forgetting the two women in the room.
BB watched Alice mentally drift off from the conversation, her eyes narrowing. She said nothing to her friend, instead concentrating her next question at Max.
"OK but, have you always done this kind of work? How do you even get to become Jane Bond??"
Max took another drink from her mug, emptying it and frowning into it as if more would magically appear at the bottom. She let it fall on her drawn up thighs and set to work on another brownie, pulling apart the marzipan pig butt first.
“Ohh, you know,” she said with a careless shrug, “army training, special forces...I even trained for a few months with these hot Israeli soldiers? Oh my god they know how to make them over there,” she giggled. There was very little inhibition left now, so she didn't see any reason to hold back. “Then they sent me packing...I got the job here instead.” She said it like she didn't care, like it was just another career move, but part of her was still bitter.
Alice still had a lingering smile on her lips when she finished fidgeting with her phone and turned her attention back to the girls. “That’s awesome though! You must have seen so much in all your experience. It’s very brave, I think.” Alice smiled more fully at Max before moving toward Brittany’s bed. “I could never do stuff like that. Remember me in gym class, Britt?”
"God yes," BB replied, her head rolling back in amusement. She put her mug down on the table in order to make a wiggling motion with both arms. "Fucking spaghetti arms, I remember when we had to climb that rope to the gym ceiling." She stepped closer to Alice, one hand wrapping around the girl's upper arm for a squeeze. "I don't think you even made it halfway! Mrs. Pitt was like use your legs and you got so embarrassed that your face turned the same color as your hair." She hip bumped the girl, releasing her arm and instead sliding her own around Alice's waist.
"But you," she continued, turning to look at Max and point an accusing finger, "so wait, sent you packing? Did you break somebody's nose?"
Max had been laughing at the playful banter between Alice and BB, but then her smile faded just a little when the conversation was turned back on her. ‘Stupid’ she told herself, and firmly blamed the tequila. “Something like that,” she grinned, hoping she’d leave it at that. “Turns out they frown on that kind of thing.” She shifted forward, putting her mug down on the coffee table and pouring herself another healthy dose of alcohol, taking another drink and following it with a bite of brownie. She turned to Alice with a smile. “So I think brownies are my new favourite alcohol chaser,” she joked, laughing maybe a little too loud.
“I stupidly didn’t think alcohol would be the drink of choice tonight,” Alice laughed. “I would’ve made some… I don’t know, pineapple fruit tarts or something. Something fruity! But I’m glad the chocolate works.”
She plopped down onto Brittany’s bed and reached up to grab her friend’s hand and pull her down with her just as Alice’s phone chirped from across the room too. She glanced to the phone, considering getting up for a moment and indecision clear on her face. BB slipped another arm around Alice's shoulders, more than happy to distract her friend from whatever the phone might offer.
"The chocolate is great, though the movie's, like, half over. Do you guys wanna rewind it, or maybe we can switch to the kid's movie? I'm easy." She glanced toward Alice with the last suggestion, squeezing Alice's shoulders for a moment before arching a brow in Max's direction. "Or we can always pillow fight. You guys could fulfill one of my longest-standing fantasties."
Max, already loaded, took another sip from her mug and set it down on the coffee table. And then with a subtle gesture as if just shifting her seat on the couch, she grabbed a pillow that was sitting behind her and threw it with perfect aim at BB’s head, breaking out into peals of girlish laughter when it hit true.
“Oh gosh,” Alice replied, burying her giggle into her drink. It was quite possibly the most ridiculous thing to say but all of this had the makings of what would lead her to surely shake her head and face palm. She knew how Brittany got on booze and flirtation, while she didn’t know how Max was and yet… she seemed to be pairing up well with Brittany’s typical drunk antics. All Alice could think was that their night was rapidly speeding toward a night of teasing flirtation, sex jokes, and very loud conversations. “Let’s just keep playing the movie! I think it’s working well,” Alice said with a smile to her friend. She patted Brittany’s thigh before getting to her feet. “I’m going to get more to drink; you two behave.” She pointed at them both with a smile before turning for the kitchen area and reaching for her cell phone, rather than the bottle of liquor.
BB did not pause overlong to throw a pillow back at Max; she did not wait, however, to see if her aim landed true, her eyes following her friend's trajectory toward the kitchen. A frown pursed her lips.
"Get me another pig butt too, yeah?" BB's gaze wandered back to Max. "So, about that red carpet invite, huh? You sure you can't get me in somewhere? It's too bad the Oscars came and went -- god, that fiasco with the best picture announcement. Is the Academy going senile or is the Academy going senile?"
Max caught the pillow with a laugh, whipping it back at BB with a little less aim this time. With Alice gone from her seat, Max took the opportunity to stretch out on the couch, looking up at BB upside down with a grin. “Oh my god, I heard about that,” she giggled. “I wasn't there though, I was working an Oscar party at a club downtown. People who didn't get invites still like to party,” she smirked.
Alice returned to the couch area but instead sat down on the floor, allowing the girls to stretch out on the futon without her. Using her cell phone as a little plate, she had three pig butt brownies on top of a napkin. Taking one, she balanced it gently on her knee, and then gathered the napkin of the remaining to brownies and offered it to Brittany and Max. “I’m generally clueless of all this stuff but even I heard about the snafu,” she commented, taking a sip of her newly mixed drink before zeroing in on her phone briefly to quickly dictate a reply to a text message.
BB's eyes narrowed at Alice's distraction, her form leaning only slightly in the redhead's direction so she could see the screen. She filled her mouth with brownie, but still talked through the chewing.
"And then they tricked that group of tourists into thinking they were getting some backstage access, only to parade them around onstage? I mean, don't get me wrong, I'd've killed to be part of that tour group, but oh my god, do they really need stunts like that to stay relevant? Ugh," she finished, glancing toward Max to invite her opinion on the subject, but frowning heavily as she continued to attempt to read Alice's text.
Max took another brownie, picking it apart on her stomach and munching the marzipan butt first. She was happy and comfortable, pumped full of sugar and alcohol with a nice floaty buzz making her feel as if she was lying on a cloud. “Most people in Hollywood are douchenozzles anyway," she said with a dismissive wave, not even caring if it had anything to do with what BB had said and giggling to herself instead. “But at least most if them are hot,” she added happily.
Alice smiled at her phone before dropping it into her lap and looking up. “There are a lot of hot guys here. And they’re just about as full of themselves as the guys in DC area. But… I don’t know, there are some guys who don’t seem like total douchenozzles and are still hot. And obviously, hot ladies too.” Alice said with a grin, indicating present company.
"Some?" BB replied, latching all too readily onto the topic presented by Alice. "Ugh, that one reporter guy who keeps stalking me showed up in my comic book store the other day. I guess he's not that bad but I had to help him out with this one asshole salesperson. When will the day come that men don't need a woman's support to get the simplest thing done, I don't know." She flopped back on the couch. "Who yah textin', skittles?" She finally asked, curiosity winning out.
Max was barely paying attention, instead working on dismantling her brownie into tiny pieces and eating the crumbs which were now scattered all over her stomach. “You could always just kill him,” she said with a nonchalant shrug, as if it was no big thing. Then she flipped onto her stomach, scattering brownie crumbs everywhere and looking up at BB with a grin. “Hey, we should make pancakes in the morning. I love pancakes.” If she noticed Alice texting away nearby, she didn’t let on.
Alice smirked and glanced at Max. Brittany was probably going to have a blast with Max around. But the smirk didn’t last for long when she noticed Brittany still looking at her, expecting an answer and not distracted at all by Max’s flirtatious manner. Her smirk faded. “A guy. Brian. He...we went on a date... and we’re just discussing when we will be able to see each other again.” Alice’s cheeks burned and she glanced down at her lap, feeling embarrassed by her blushing. Discussing potential--or actual--boyfriends with Brit was always a little strange because she seemed to dislike every last one of them.
While Max's suggestion piqued BB's interest, she could not tear her attention away from this new hurdle that Alice had unknowingly introduced. Whether her jealousy or the large amount of liquor currently burning its way through her stomach was the culprit, her tongue would not be silenced.
"Oh," she said pointedly, sitting up. She drained the rest of her mug and set it on the pushed-aside coffee table, suddenly sinking into Max's side without an invitation. One arm went around the woman's shoulders, cuddling into her side. "How's that going?"
Max snuggled in close to BB, stretching a little like a happy cat, looking up at Alice and only just then taking notice of what she was doing. “Ooooh, a boy? We need details!” she said with a grin, one hand toying playfully with BB’s on her shoulder.
“Um, there’s not much to tell…” Alice replied nervously as she brushed her hair back and tucked it behind her ear. “We met online, honestly, and talked for the past few months. We went on a date last week, just our first chance to meet, and I think it went really well. So… yeah, it’s going okay.” Alice moved her gaze from Max to Brittany, meeting her friend’s eyes fully.
"Oh, Alice, he might seem like an OK guy now, but you gotta watch out for that OKCupid and Plenty of Fish crap. Half of those guys are gonna want your skin for their make-believe suit a la Buffalo Bill, and the other half probably live in their parents' basements. I hope you're using enough lotion to make the former worth the effort," BB replied, rolling her eyes. Her arm moved down from Max's shoulders to around her waist, fingers passing lightly over the plane of her stomach and nearly beneath her shirt. Her gaze, however, did not drift away from the redhead, carefully weighing the result of each cutting remark. "So what exactly did you guys do on this date?"
Max was only half listening, but caught enough of the conversation to weigh in. “Hey, if you need me to shadow you on a date to make sure he's not a serial killer, I got your back,” she said with a little grin. She felt BB's fingers playing on her stomach and let her eyes slip closed, almost purring with how comfortable she was.
Alice looked at Max and offered her a shy smile. “That would be nice, thank you. I’ll definitely keep it in mind.” Then she pulled her gaze to the more disapproving one of Brittany and frowned. “It was fine. We had dinner at a place where an old coworker works so she was keeping an eye on me. And he seems nice. Really nice. He’s a real estate lawyer, well, a recent lawyer. He just passed the bar. And he’s sweet and I like him. He makes me feel excited in my belly.” Alice laughed, hoping the silliness of that statement would make Brittany’s frown disappear.
It did not; instead, it only deepened.
"Real estate. So that means he's a smooth operator, skittles, and a lawyer? You can never fuckin' trust a thing that they say." She was quickly devolving into a sour mood, her eyes darting toward Alice's phone as though she could erase the other man's existence if she stared hard enough.
Max’s eyes opened at the harsh tone of BB’s voice, looking up at Alice with a slightly apologetic look and then frowning at BB. “Would it make you feel better if I chaperoned them?” she asked playfully, as if the idea itself was ridiculous, but she’d do it to humour her. She wanted them to move on; BB’s tone was seriously ruining her buzz.
“Thanks, Max,” Alice said with a sigh and a tired smile. She glanced around the apartment for a moment, uncertain of how to proceed. Brit was always overprotective and judgemental of Alice’s boyfriends. Oftentimes, she was right about them as well. In college Alice had a long list of guys she dated that didn’t seem as disastrous otherwise but Alice had always known Brittany hated each and every one of them from afar. Now she just didn’t bother bringing up the guys she dated if she could avoid it, but it was also hard as Brittany was her best friend, she wanted to share this stuff with her.
“Well, Max, you mentioned pancakes tomorrow morning so I think I’ll run up to my apartment and grab some ingredients. I can whip some up really fast.” She got to her feet, leaving her phone on the coffee table in exchange for her keys. Maybe if she just ducked out for a moment it would give Brittany a chance to calm down. “I’ll get all the supplies and some fun toppings too. So I’ll be right back, okay?”
She edged for the door with a cautious smile at both girls. Once she was outside, the door closed behind her, BB jumped up from her spot, abandoning Max without a second thought. She grabbed Alice's phone and immediately started to go through the text messages. Whatever she saw, clearly she didn't care for it.
"I'll be right back," she told Max, taking Alice's phone into the bathroom and carefully shutting the door behind her. She sat on the edge of her shower-tub, and began typing messages out furiously.
Max sat up just slightly, startled by the sudden loss of body heat next to her, but her curiosity was piqued as she watched BB disappear with the phone. Following her seemed like too much effort though, so she lay back down, snuggling back into the couch and stretching like a satisfied kitty, letting her eyes close.
By the time BB emerged, the screen of Alice's phone was dark. Almost immediately though, it started buzzing with received messages, which BB did not answer or look at. It was clear she already had a good idea of what they were, but she put the phone down where Alice had left it. She glanced at Max.
"You need another drink?"
Max had been drifting pleasantly in and out of consciousness while the room around her was quiet, so when BB spoke it was jarring, her eyes snapping open. “Ohh..uhhm, maybe not,” she said with a laugh. “I’m pretty sure I’m good and drunk already...where did you go?” she asked curiously, shifting onto her side and eyeing BB with an impish grin.
BB’s door swung open and Alice stepped in, kicking at it with her foot to stay wide and welcoming as she carried a armful of supplies. A big pan, because lord knew what cheap pans Brittany had, and an assortment of odds and ends to make pancakes. “I brought some pumpkin puree, we could always have pumpkin pancakes. But I also brought chocolate chips and whip cream, syrup, butter… oh and eggs. Brit, can I pop them in the fridge?” Alice asked as she inched to the counter and gently sat the collection of materials down, allowing the apartment door to swing back shut.
BB made a humming sound, a simple yes to Alice's question, and she darted forward to take some of the items that were nearly falling out of Alice's arms.
"Don't you have some recyclable bags or something? Jeez, skittles," she muttered, dumping the various tools Alice had brought onto the counter. "You know, I have a spatula..." She blatantly ignored Max's question, hoping the woman would take the hint to stay quiet; otherwise, BB's mood seemed to have improved greatly in the short span of time Alice was gone.
Max sat up and staggered into the kitchen with the other girls, looking over the ingredients spread out on the counters and leaning one hip against the wall. “How about pumpkin chocolate chip pancakes...with syrup and whipped cream and sprinkles!” She spotted the rest of the brownies and took one, yet again devouring the pig butt before the rest.
“We can totally make a combination of them all!” Alice said, flashing a smile. “And I do, but they’re out in my car, so they aren’t much use to me right now.” She gave Brittany a hip bump and left the kitchen to return to her drink and cell phone. It vibrated again, but for Alice it was the first she heard of it.
Sitting back on the couch rather than the floor, Alice reached out and grabbed her cellphone, lighting the screen up and looking at her notifications. Immediately, her generally happy demeanour slowly began to disappear and in its place was the wrinkle in her brow and a frown on her lips. BB had moved over to the kitchen table, where she collected one of the few remaining pig butts.
"Something wrong, skittles?"
In the kitchen, Max cleared a space on the counter, hoisting herself up onto it and watching the drama unfold from a distance, idly playing with the bag of chocolate chips in her hands, attempting to open it with clumsy fingers, so that it rattled in the background.
“Brian,” Alice began softly, scrolling through her phone and texting. Her eyes were wide and glued to the screen. “I...I don’t know what happened. He just sent me all of these awful texts. He… he doesn’t want to meet me again. He cancelled our second date. He told me to fuck off.” She blinked rapidly, feeling tears start to fill her eyes, more so from embarrassment that she was being shot down so cruelly and it being done so in front of Brittany and Max than anything.
"Aw, skittles." BB crossed the floor, plopping down next to Alice without hesitation, her arm going around the other girl's shoulders. She pulled Alice against her, rubbing her upper arm. "Sounds like you dodged a bullet. What a complete asshole." She plucked Alice's phone from her hands and put it back on the coffee table, eyes glancing at Max with a 'shhh' look in them. "You want another drink? Or I've got popcorn, or some hard ale. Plenty of stuff to forget about that asshole."
Max caught the look but was too drunk to really get what it meant. Instead, she struggled with the bag of chocolate chips some more, becoming frustrated with the seemingly Max-proof plastic. “Fuck ‘em,” she said, though it could have been about the chocolate chips instead of the boyfriend.
“Maybe I’ll have another drink,” Alice replied miserably, a tear of betrayal slipping from her eye. She quickly brushed it away and wrapped her arms around her thin torso, hugging herself as she stared at the phone where Brit had placed it. “I don’t understand what the hell happened. We were flirting together, just stupid silly chats. We were excited about the next date. Now all of a sudden he’s cursing me out? What the hell?”
BB shook her head wisely, squeezing Alice's shoulders. "Guys are assholes, skittles. I keep telling you this, but..." She shrugged, as though belabored by the weight of what she knew, as though it had been bestowed upon her by the universe at large.
"But like Max said, fuck 'em. You got Max, you got me, especially me, we got a cute puppy movie to watch, and in the mornin', we're makin' waffles!" She grinned, trying to entice Alice back into the happy atmosphere they'd had going just a moment before. "How's all of that sound?"
“Pancakes” Max corrected firmly, having no luck with the chocolate chips and throwing the slightly mangled bag onto the opposite counter. She slid off the counter and stumbled a little, her usually perfect balance now dulled with drink. She managed to find her way over to the couch and lying across it, looking at the two girls on the floor. “I am very very drunk,” she stated, as if it wasn’t obvious. “If I wake up tomorrow with a dick on my face, I’m blaming BB.” The small asian woman leveled a mock glare in Max's direction.
Alice smiled at Max, it was a sleepy smile, one that was twinged with a little bit of lingering disappointment. “You know Britt pretty well then. If there’s a dick on your face it will totally be her doing. I can’t promise anything other than I won’t be the one drawing it. And I’ll make pancakes for all tomorrow morning before I head to the bakery.” Her smile softened, and she glanced at Brittany, uncertain of what they should do now with Max quickly going down for the count.
"I'll put the other movie on," BB offered, bouncing off the couch at near the speed of light to swap one film for the other. Then she grabbed the kettle corn, curled up on the couch, and pulled Alice against her again, offering her the treat in the hopes that such a thing could be a decent distraction.
