The sweet ring her giggling had was contagious, the shell cracked, the yolk leaked out. She was laughing. It felt nice to laugh. It also pained faintly the empty inwards of her stomach, where the naval met spine and sank, but she didn't seem to mind. Maybe she could be this person for the one human being who expected it of her. Maybe she could wear the costume only on the Halloween of her innocent company.
The shadows for just one minute receded in her mind. A flood crashed in; that time she spent rewiring her life had at least been pleasant before...
