Kate - 7:05pm - Lounge - Percy
Having been mostly uninterested in dating since the hormonal upheaval of her teen years--thank whatever deity existed that was long over--Kate had at first dismissed the idea of attending a singles event. She had so much enjoyed meeting new people at the meet and greet and the D-floor dinner that followed, however, that she decided it couldn't hurt to make an appearance. So she had walked Scilla and Carrie, showered, and dressed with time to spare.
She took a moment after she walked in to let her eyes adjust to the dim light. No doubt the darkened corners were deliberately set up for a certain type of rendezvous, Kate thought with amusement, but the crooning of the live band also suggested more traditional pursuits. She had to hand it to the coordinators for catering to guests of all persuasions.
It looked like she was one of the first to arrive. Kate made her way to the bar and picked up a flute with something bubbling inside, probably champagne, then claimed a couch in the lounge. She silently promised the buffet table she'd visit shortly--if her food plate was the most positive interaction she had all night, she'd consider it an evening well spent--and settled back in the couch, letting the darkness and music wrap her in a soothing cloak.
