"If it's something you really want to do," Simon started, words quiet, more musing than anything really concrete. "Then you'll find a way to do it." He paused, considering his words carefully since he really had no idea how he would react in a similar situation. It'd be like if something happened to his hands. What would he do if he couldn't paint? Maybe pay more attention to the main reason he had come to California in the first place. His lips twitched in a frown which was visible for only a moment before he tucked it back where it couldn't be seen.
"What did you do? Sing? Drums? Guitar? Uhm... tambourine?" he asked, trying to insert a bit of levity into the situation. The frown seemed out of place on Billy's face, and while he could respect it's origin, he hardly wanted to prolong it.
