Sitting down was an experience. Not having the full use of back, spine, knee or even hip meant if he sat he couldn't adjust, so he damn well better do it right the first time. He turned, caught his weight so that the back of his knees were flush with the chair, and folded into it as slowly as possible. Another wince. "Yeah, it's cool. I just hurt, it's not new." It was meant to be reassuring, but since he had to catch his breath to say it, not so much. Billy glanced at the clock. He had a couple hours yet before he could take something for the pain, and another anti-inflammatory. The nurse that came by in the evening would bring it.
Billy leaned the cane carefully against the arm of the chair so he could retrieve it again. The pressure on his arm and shoulder eased, at least. He made an effort to return to the previous conversation. "Yeah, you were right, looks good there. Guess I can trust you to just show up and stick everything where you think it looks good. Going into interior design?"
