Hello, my name is Ren and I live in room 404. I just moved in a few days ago and I have just started unpacking most of my stuff so I haven't been very social or gotten a chance to use this thing yet. Yet I have already unpacked my games and have played six hours straight on Halo, BUT that is my excuse and I'm sticking with it.

For someone who grew up with electronics, you would think something like this would come second nature, but it just feels a little awkward introducing myself to "the neighborhood" via this thing. It probably would have been a lot stranger to go door to door introducing myself. Yeah, like I would have done that, hahah. Not a girl scout, not selling cookies.

Though I do know a couple of people here from before I officially moved in and here is a special message for one of them: Chris, dude, call me already before I have to stake out your apartment.

I have come to the conclusion that I hate unpacking and I have nothing to eat right now except ramen noodles. It might be a few days before I am able to find my way back out of my apartment long enough to go stock up on things like...food. So does anyone here know of a few good places that deliver and are on the relatively cheap side? Cause man can not live by ramen noodles alone.

Hey Ren, I'm Paul. Welcome and nice to meet you. I actually make an awesome enchilada lasanga and the leftovers last awhile so I'd be willing to help you out of your ramen slump if you want?

Oooo, That sounds really good. I think my stomach is trying to eat itself. Is it spicy? I love spicy bytheway.

Paul, I think you might be my new best friend. Ramen tends to be my staple, cause bad things happen when I spend too much time in the kitchen. Horrible things that include black smoke and me losing eyebrows.

It can be pretty spicy, actually. I usually just cater to the people doing the consuming but I like spicy things too so good to know.

No problem, we don't want you setting the place on fire or losing vital eyebrows or anything. That would not be a good intro to your time here.

Sweeeet! So where should I venture for the spicy goodness? Just say the word and I'll be there. Have fork, will travel.

Yeah, I think my bosses at Disney would be like, "What happened to his eyebrows? Crazy Asian kid. Let's fire him."

Please don't fire me I need the job!

As you can tell I'm a little delirious.

I'm in 1005. If you come by tonight around 7:00, fork in hand, I should have worked my magic by then? I'm at work now although it probably doesn't seem like it.

Haha! No way, let's skip the firing part. Disney probably has a strict uniform code anyway, that doesn't include funky eyebrows. What all do you do at the park?

Awesome. Will be there!

Uh, I'm just an usher at the Animation Building. Hopefully I won't have to be there for long. No individuality there. Everyone has got to look clean cut and wholesome. After just finishing art school a little while ago, this is a really weird experience for me.

Hey, you gotta start somewhere, right? A job's a job these days. Art school, that's cool. What type of art are you into?

My degree is in animation. I'm not so good at classical art or art for art's sake. I draw mainly line art, kinda like comic book style, but I also draw realism when I feel like I need practice.

Very awesome. I can't even draw a straight line so I totally respect people who can do that and more. I'm an Oceanographer; not very artsy, but...we have to fight the tides a lot, to get the samples we need, so it's exciting at least?

Sounds a lot better than ushering people from one place to another at a theme park.

I love the ocean. This is the first time I've lived so close to it.

I bet you meet a lot of...interesting people though?

Me too, but I guess that's obvious. It's a great view from here, isn't it? I've always been surrounded by the sea, being a Navy brat and all, but it's something I'll never tire of.

Mostly kids and their parents.

My apartment actually faces away from the ocean. It was cheaper that way, but when I get a chance to see it, yeah, it's pretty amazing.

My father used to live on Okinawa, since you are a Navy brat I will assume you know where that is, but he kept his family as far away from the ocean as possible. I guess he didn't like it all that much.

It's not the happiest place on earth, I take it?

Are you into water sports too?

My dad was stationed in Okinawa for awhile so yeah, I'm pretty familiar with it. Kept away from the ocean, damn, that just stabbed me right in the heart.

Not for me and some others I know who work there.

I want to learn to surf, but I think I might drown if I try it alone.

Eh, my dad's a weird one, but he paid my tuition, so I'm not complaining too much.

I can certainly understand that.

Haha, well, if you feel like giving it a try sometime, let me know. I think 707 surfs regularly too.

It's alright, everyone thinks their parents are weird to some extent.

You know Chris in 308? I like him. Funny guy indeed.

Anyway, good to meet you, Ren. I'm Pierce and what's your poison? If you like Thai, try Thai Lingo. It looks like a dive but it's fantastic and if you order everything extra spicy, your sinuses will be nice and clear for awhile.

Oh yeah, Chris and I have been friends since high school. He is funny isn't he? Real funny.

Thanks Pierce. Nice to meet you too. There's not much I don't like really. Always up for trying something new. And Thai is always good. I'll have to try it out. I always have some of their spicy chile sauce, though I can't remember the name of it right now. It has a bird on the bottle... Anyways, better than ketchup.

That's a long time! It's good to have a friend like that who always sticks by you though.

Oh, I know what you mean. The Sriracha sauce? Definitely better than ketchup.

So what brings you to this neck of the woods? Are you a CA native?

It's not that long. Didn't see him much while I was away at college.

That's it! Sriracha sauce. Love that stuff.

Well originally it was to get away from home, I mean, go to college. When I finished that I started looking for a job which is really difficult when you don't have "real world experience." I should have taken the extra semester and done an internship.

Well, I'm sure you'll have plenty of opportunities to catch up now that you're here in the same building.

You went to art school? I just noticed that. And yes, sometimes it can be hard to break into the workforce right away but I think that hiring people who are young, ambitious, and have fresh ideas to offer can be very beneficial.

We'll see. If he ever calls me. Otherwise I think I really will just have to sit outside his door to get his attention. Don't think I won't.

Yeah, art school...seems kind of useless to me at the moment, my education that is, but I have an idea. Hopefully someone will think it's unique and interesting enough to say, "He's pretty good at what he does. Let's give him a job."

That's determination for you, and certainly one way to do it.

It's what you love to do, right? Life's too short to hate what we do. If you're still interested in an internship (paid, of course) my art director at one of the newspapers needs one. Submit your portfolio to me and I'll pass it along.

Of course. Feel free to come up and drop it off anytime. You'd just be helping design pages and process art and photographs and whatnot. If you really like it and get on with Robert alright, then we can talk about full-time jobs.

Would that be Halo: Reach you're talking about? If so, I may need to hijack your 360 for a few hours. Surfing isn't so hard - maybe I can give you a lesson or two in exchange for some quality time with that game. I hear it's fucking epic.

So if I let you borrow, it I get free surfing lessons? Sweet. Since you live in the building it'll be pretty easy to get it back.

Ok, once I get it out of my system, you can borrow it.

Damn, I'm actually jealous. Did you get the limited edition? That journal looks badass.

Yeah, I have a couple extra boards we can take out. Seems like a fair trade to me. Whenever you're done I'll probably borrow it when I'm on a few days' break from work. I can marathon it and have it back to you in no time.

Everything I own in limited edition. This is why I survive on ramen noodles. It's not by choice.

That is so cool. I hope I don't blind you with my pale skin though. I've been working in doors mostly and have seen little of the sun.

I got here a few days ago dude. I thought you might be trying to avoid me. I was getting ready to have a camp out in front of your door.

Fuck no, I'm not avoiding you, I'm just tired as hell. You shoulda called me when you got here, I'd've helped you get shit inside. Living out of boxes is fine by me, I'm still doing it with my clothes.

I don't know what you are talking about. I don't think you know what you're talking about. I sneak past you all the time. You just never know it. I was just careless and young back then.

Well what the hell am I supposed to think you asshole? I did call you. You must be too tired to listen to your voice mail, unless you got a new phone number without telling me.

By the way, my mother would have been very disappointed in you what with the double contraction and all.

Voicemail? What the fuck are you even WHEN THE FUCK DID THOSE GET THERE. Aw, shit, man, sorry, these things didn't even show up until ... last night. I guess I must've left my phone somewhere for a few days. How about I buy lunch, pay you back for missing them?

Text'd probably work, I gotta check this thing three times a day anyway in case they decide to screw up my schedule. I'll get you your free food, just tell me when you're free and we'll set it up. And I'm not telling your mom anything, she's more of a ninja than you are.
