I believe I can fly.
I signed up today to finish high school so I can get my GED and go to college.

On one hand, I'm really happy I can finally do this. On the other, it's bothersome to have school office workers look at you like you're an utter and complete failure.

Awesome.

Hey... You play guitar, right? I, um, was grabbing the mail the other day and heard you. At least, I think it was you. I don't mean to be nosy, but it was pretty fantastic.

((OOCly: She's not particularly sure just who Billy is quite yet, although she's a fan of the band and it's rumored that she has a cousin who's in it, too. Naea's just being herself. :)))

Keep it up! It's becoming my favorite part of picking up the mail. :) I play a little, but I just never seem to have time anymore. At least I can enjoy it vicariously through someone. :)

I have a lot of time to play a lot so... well. I can't get worse, can I? So I figure it's all up hill from here.

Once you're in college it won't matter how you got there. What matters is you're there.

I know, and I appreciate the sentiment. I tested out of a few classes, so that will make the workload (in addition to working) much easier.

Nothing worth the effort comes easy. Good for you for going ahead with your plans despite any unwarranted judgmental attitudes. Now just ditch my brother the driftwood and things will improve even more.

I have some crazy idea that I'd like to be a teacher. There's nothing easy about that in of itself, and I just figure that these privileged ladies know not a damn thing about me and why I had to drop out to begin with, so they can get off their pedestal.

Teaching is a noble profession. You have the patience for it, I can tell you that right now.

Have you heard from that fuckwit or did he leave you to get settled in by yourself?

It's funny how life works out like that, isn't it?

...Last I knew, he was taking care of some things before he could get here to stay. The worst part about me settling in on my own is reaching the higher shelves. I hate being short sometimes. Paul from upstairs let me borrow his step stool.

I know you're concerned and I do appreciate it, but I'll be fine. I've dealt with worse.

Indeed. But you becoming a teacher will be something you earned. If I can help speed the registration process along, or eliminate some of the red tape, let me know. I can always pull some strings.

Oh, right. Taking care of things like robbing convenience stores and running from loan sharks. Typical of him to move in after someone else did all the work.

Paul?? And then did he run you over with his car? You shouldn't have to deal with this, or worse. But I suppose it's none of my business.

So far, so good, Pierce. Nothing's popped up yet that I haven't been able to tackle, but I will let you know if I could use a hand. :)

[Sigh.] He... can be stupid at times, but he does take care of me most of the time, when he is around.

I'll tell you all about my life up until this point if you want You've been very good to me. I owe you.

It doesn't work for everyone, no, but I want to be a teacher. And I have to have degrees for it.

Just a matter of figuring out just what it is I'd like to teach.
