Corvo rolled over, looping an arm around the woman in bed with him and nuzzling the back of her neck. He felt light, floaty, free in a way he hadn’t since Elizabeth Jessamine. But Loba was just…. Well words couldn’t begin to describe her. Besides beautiful, sexy, alluring…
He nuzzled her again, grinning, “Good morning.”
Loba had been half awake when she felt Corvo wrap an arm around her and nuzzle the back of her neck. A lazy smile stretched across her face as she snuggled back against Corvo. He was very warm, and she rather liked how he made her feel. It had been a long time since anyone had made her feel like this, but this was the first time she’d indulged in the feeling.
“Mm good morning, beautiful,” she murmured, trailing her fingers along his arm that was wrapped around her.
Laughing, Corvo kissed the back of her neck, “No, you’re more beautiful. Sexiest damn woman I’ve ever been with.”
It made him want to do something special for her, for this woman he loved. To treat her and spoil her half to death if he could.
“Why thank you, you are too kind,” Loba responded with a little laugh. Oh, she knew she was beautiful, but she wasn’t completely full of herself like some people might think she was.
Loba rolled over in Corvo’s embrace, gazing at him. “You are definitely the sexiest man I’ve ever been with,” she trailed a hand up his arm, tracing a nail over his bicep.
He felt wrapped up in her, and ran a hand through her silky hair, before leaning into steal a kiss, “I love you, princess.” He knew it was fast but this was Vegas!
Maybe they should get married!
She returned the kiss, her fingers brushing along the back of his neck and through his hair. “I love you, too, sexy,” she responded with a silly grin. God, she felt like a schoolgirl, and she kind of liked it. Maybe this was fast, but Loba didn’t care. You didn’t always need a lot of time to fall in love with someone.
After all, there was such a thing as love at first sight!
“I like the way you say that,” Corvo said, hoping to make her say it again and again. He rolled on top of her, pinning her down and kissing her languidly. “I don’t think I want to go anywhere today…”
They probably should, but they’d spend most of the...however long it was… wrapped up.
Oh, he liked the way she said that, did he? Then she’d just have to say it more. It was sometimes amusing to her how people sometimes went weak in the knees over her accent. It wasn’t as thick as it had been when she’d been a child, but it was still there. She considered Portuguese to be her native language, though she learned both it and English at the same time.
Loba returned the languid kiss, enjoying the feel of his weight on top of her. While Loba tended to be more of an alpha and prefer being on top, she didn’t mind being on the bottom. Especially when her partner knew what they were doing.
And Corvo definitely knew what he was doing.
“Mm neither do I. You are rather distracting and incredibly enticing,” she purred.
“Tell me that again,” Corvo said. He pushed himself up, gazing at her, “How did I get so lucky?”
Loba gazed up at him, a warm smile on her lips. “You are rather distracting and incredibly enticing,” she repeated. She then reached up and pressed her hand against his cheek. “I rather think I’m the lucky one here, sexy.” She shifted a leg, rubbing her inner thigh against his outer thigh. “I love the way you make me feel,” she purred.
How did she make him feel? Like poetry, and he wasn’t the most poetic sort. He’d never been that way with Princess Jessamine, though he’d found other, less superficial ways to express his affection.
“All hot and bothered?” He asked, shuddering at the feel of her thigh.
Poetry could be over-rated, but Loba felt like she could sing. While she’d been in love before, it had never felt like this. And even then, she’d ultimately chosen to focus on her work and not her personal happiness. But now? Now she wanted personal happiness.
“Yes, though it’s hard not to be hot and bothered when I have a sexy, naked man on top of me,” she responded. And what hit her even more than the fact she was choosing her personal happiness right now was the fact that she wasn’t alone anymore.
Corvo hadn’t thought about his work or his client (or one client in particular) since he’d seen Loba, he was just that wrapped up in her.
He laughed, shifting onto his knees on the bed, “I’ve got an idea. Stay here.”
Then Corvo hopped out of bed with almost supernatural agility, and disappeared out the bedroom door.
Loba hadn’t thought about her work either. She was so enamored with Corvo that nothing else was registering in her mind. It was nice to have someone in her life, and she wanted to keep him.
Arching an eyebrow in curiosity, Loba watched Corvo disappear out of the room. She rolled onto her side, propping herself up on an elbow as she wondered just what he was doing. But she couldn’t exactly help the stupid grin that spread across her face just thinking of him.
In fact, Loba Andrade actually giggled like a schoolgirl as she awaited her love’s return.
The sound of banging pots and pans drifted from the kitchen, then something sizzling. Cooking bacon wasn’t exactly safe while naked, but Corvo had many skills.
He returned soon enough with a tray full of food and genuine orange juice, “Breakfast in bed for my beloved.”
The sound of pots and pans banging only piqued Loba’s curiosity, but when she heard the sizzling, it all became clear. When Corvo returned with the tray of food, she couldn’t help but to grin as she sat up, propping some pillows up to lean against while eating.
“Aren’t you sweet, thank you, beautiful,” Loba purred.
“I went to great risk to bring you this bacon,” He replied, grinning at her. Odd as it was, he was starting to feel a bit more himself. Maybe it had been the smell of the food. Whatever it was, he looked forward to Loba enjoying it.
“I greatly appreciate the risk you took to bring me this,” Loba replied. She leaned in to steal a kiss before she picked up a piece of bacon and started to eat it. “And it was certainly worth the risk.”
And because it was Loba, the simple act of eating bacon looked rather suggestive even without her trying to be suggestive.
His eyes darted to her lips, then he visibly shook himself. One thing at a time, and some food could be sexy but not super sexy.
Bacon tended to burn skin more than anything, at least, “I’m glad. I would do anything for you.”
Some food could be sexy. Oh the things Loba could do with melted chocolate and honey and other such things. But for now, she was actually hungry. They’d spent the night working up an appetite.
“I have to say, I can’t remember the last time anyone cooked me breakfast in bed.” Alright, that was half a lie. She sort of remembered her mom made her breakfast in bed when she’d been sick, but such thoughts tended to lead her down a wormhole of Bad Thoughts and Memories so she quickly pushed the thoughts aside. “Aren’t you hungry, sexy?” Loba asked, holding out a piece of bacon for Corvo if he wanted it.
“Pity, a princess like you deserves the very best.” Corvo looked her up and down. He was actually famished, since they’d worked up such an appetite, so he took the bacon from her and popped it into his mouth.
“...I should have asked if you had any food allergies or something.”
“Perhaps, but it simply means that you’re amazing for doing this.” Loba said with a smile. She did her best to not think of the deeper implications of that statement.
Loba chuckled softly. “Perhaps, but lucky for you, I have no food allergies that I know of. But you are very sweet for thinking of it, beautiful,” she said, eating a little more.
Corvo reached over, tucking some stray hair behind Loba’s ear. “Just don’t want anything happening to you.”
After everything he’d been through, he couldn’t stand the idea of losing someone he loved. Not again. The idea made his blood run cold.
She gave him a warm smile when he tucked some hair behind her ear. Loba’s hair was a bit unruly at the moment. It was naturally thick and wavy, and after their exertions the previous night, it had taken on a life of its own. She’d put it in order with hair product later on.
Loba wanted to assure him that nothing would happen to her, but she’d learned far too young that people could die when you least expected. It made her heart ache to know that her parents never got to live to see her fall in love, they never got to see the woman she’d grown up to be. But she also knew if they had, she wouldn’t be who she was today. She’d probably be some entitled, spoiled brat that never worked for what she wanted and instead was given whatever she wanted.
“Life is fragile, which is why I do not take the present for granted.” She took his hand in hers. “I’ve been alone for so long, I forgot what it was like to have someone else.”
After Jessamine, well, he hadn’t wanted to love again. He’d left, pressured out of the court, only to find that she’d died a year later. If only he’d been there…
If only something didn’t seem wrong about that. Jessamine had…
Corvo shook himself out of it.
“I’m glad I’m able to remind you of this. It’s been such a long time for me, too.”
The trauma of having lost her parents at a young age paired with the fact she’d never gotten closure for someone having been held accountable for the crime had left a lasting impact on her. Loba had always been emotionally distant with people, learning to only rely on herself. It was partly to protect herself from coming to care about someone else and then go through the pain of losing them, and partly to keep people from thinking she was a disaster.
So she’d kept her focus on excelling at school, and then she married her job. Being a CEO was a job that didn’t have set work hours, so Loba was almost always working. Of course, she ensured to play now and then, though sometimes she’d had to be dragged away from her office by Tony, but now with Corvo here, those days seemed to be gone. Perhaps she could finally let down her guard and let herself be happy for once instead of running away from it.
“Then it’s a good thing we found each other. Neither of us need to be alone ever again.” It was a strange notion to think of, not being alone. “I should warn you, I’m terrible at letting people take care of me. But I’m willing to try and not get mad every single time you try to take care of me. Only sometimes,” she added with a little smirk.
Corvo could understand; between the work he put in actually running his protection services and the work he put in actually protecting one specific clients himself, he had had to force himself to take free time. Actual weekends, though he was always an emergency phone call away.
His phone buzzed, and he ignored it since it wasn’t the emergency tone.
“Then I think we’re well matched, as I’m a terrible patient myself.”
Loba didn’t know the meaning of weekends. She was always working. Occasionally she’d go out to a club or hook up with someone when she was in the mood. Otherwise she was working. One of the only times she went on vacation was sometimes she’d go down to Carnival in Rio de Janeiro. She wasn’t religious, but she rather enjoyed Carnival. Plus it was also a chance to immerse herself in the culture her parents grew up in.
After all, despite the fact that Loba learned both English and Portugeuse at the same time, she considered Portugeuse to be her native language, largely since it was what her parents typically spoke at home.
“Well then, we both have something to work on,” Loba commented with a smile. “I love you,” she said. For so long she’d been afraid of those three little words. But now, they didn’t seem so frightening. It was, however, frightening on a whole new level. Now she had someone that she could lose just as swiftly as she’d lost her parents. That was a loss she didn’t think she could survive again.
“I love you too.” Corvo took the tray away from her, setting it on the end table before he slipped back into bed and blanketed himself on top of her. Life was always about risks, and he certainly took his fair share of them. It wasn’t something he could change, or would. But for now, with this woman, he was content.
Life was definitely full of risks. The ones Loba took were all in business. She’d avoided personal risk because that was not the kind of risk she was interested in. When Corvo blanketed himself on top of her, she wrapped her arms around him and held him close. She felt safe and warm with him, and she was content. She was happy to lay here with him, enjoying his warmth. She then leaned in and captured his lips with hers.
