Valla had stepped out of Corvo's hospital room long enough to get something to eat. At least something decent to eat that didn't come from the hospital itself. She was worried about Corvo's condition, but she knew he was strong and that he'd pull through. However, his vitals hadn't been that strong, but she refused to think that he wouldn't wake up again and recover. While Valla didn't know him as well as others might, it still hurt to think that he wouldn't recover from this.
However, she hadn't anticipated something crazy happening. When she stepped into his hospital room, she froze. The scent was off. She couldn't put her finger exactly on what had been in that room, but it definitely wasn't human. It felt almost demonic in nature, and for a moment, her eyes started to glow as if whatever had happened here tapped into that darker side of her nature. But then she sensed that she wasn't alone. She was being watched by...something. It didn't feel demonic nor did it feel angelic. It was simply...otherworldly. It seemed interested in her, and she looked around, trying to figure out where it was, but she didn't see anything. It made the hair on the back of her neck stand up. And almost as soon as she sensed it, it disappeared.
Turning her attention back to the room, she clenched her jaw. "Fuck," she muttered under her breath. Corvo was gone and the room was a mess. She quickly snapped a few photos of the room before she started to track Corvo down. What exactly had happened to Corvo? She didn't have an answer, but she had to try and find him. She'd rather find him and not have to alert everyone else that they had another situation on their hands. This had happened on her watch, and she hated when things like this happened on her watch. They never quite had good endings in her experience.
As fate would have it, the trail went cold outside the city. All she could tell was that he'd left the city and was somewhere in the desert. Which meant he could be anywhere.
"Fuck my life," she grumbled to herself before she pulled her phone out and rattled off text messages to the others.
Valla needed a stiff drink. Or just an entire bottle of vodka to herself. That sounded amazing right about then. Not to mention her therapist would probably have a field day in dealing with the aftermath of this. Things had just taken a sudden turn, and she didn't know what to do. She wanted to find Corvo and bring him back, but she also knew traipsing around in the desert alone was a fool's errand. Even for a Demon Hunter like her. Even if the others banded together to help her look, she didn't think they could cover enough ground to find him. And based on what she'd seen and felt in the hospital room, this was way over the heads of first responders and search teams to help find Corvo. In fact, it would probably put their lives at higher risk than was typical, and Valla wasn't about to involve them.
So it was informing the others, hoping someone would help figure out a plan. Or they'd just simply wait and see if Corvo came back or not. Either way, Valla was heading to a bar to get a drink before she tried to do anything else. This event wasn't doing her PTSD any favors, and she needed to try and hold it together long enough to figure out where to go from here.
