Mor had chosen Sisko’s not just because she liked the man but also because it was a nice, safe neutral location to meet someone. Yes, they were talking business but Mor had a policy of making sure everyone involved was comfortable. Herself, and anyone else.
Plus, the food was just that amazing.
She’d made sure that her hair covered her ears, though she couldn’t really do anything about the subtle otherworldly….ness that seemed to be growing stronger by the day. She remembered there being different kinds of Fae, and her kind being the proverbial gods at the top of the pantheon.
As long as it didn't’ go to her head she wasn’t too worried.
She got there first, picking out her favorite seat as she waited for Wanda.
With a handful of cases she’d been working on, Wanda had nearly forgotten about lunch with Morrigan by the time Saturday had come around. In fact, if she hadn’t put it in her phone and had an alarm set, she probably would have forgotten all about it. She’d been in Las Vegas for three years and still had yet to make any meaningful connections. There was simply work. Oh, there undoubtedly was some sort of psychology behind it. Fear of getting close after losing her family or something like that. Whatever the reason, well… It could get lonely.
Even if this was a working lunch.
When the alarm went off, Wanda had to look to see what it was for before getting up and quickly changing into something that wasn’t just loungewear for being at home and then made her way to Sisko’s.
It also wasn’t hard to spot Morrigan once she got there. There was….Wanda couldn’t quite explain it. But there was a difference about the woman from when they’d spoken at the charity event. Not like it mattered in the end. Instead, she just made her way over to the table and nodded in greeting as she slipped into the chair.
“Hello.”
“Hello!” Mor smiled brightly at her. She’d gotten the impression from Wanda that all she did was work, and while this was kind of a work lunch it was also intended to be something a little relaxed. Whether or not it worked, she’d at least try. Right?
“You know, I didn’t ask if you had any issues with hot food, but Ben has some menu items for those with allergies or weak stomachs.”
There was nothing wrong with trying. And well, Wanda really could use a break now and again before she completely burnt out. She could also use friends but that required letting herself lower her guard enough and after three years, well, she was getting there. It was a process, but she was getting there.
So instead, Wanda gave a slight smile and nodded.
“That’s good.” Not that she was too worried, but it was a good thing to have such items on menus in general.
Mor thought that Wanda definitely had a bit of that wounded animal thing going on.
"You usually can't go wrong with the gumbo. It's basically a kind of stew and they serve it mild, hot and five alarm fire here. If you're feeling a little less brave, I'd suggest anything with the green leaf next to it."
She leaned back in her seat, still smiling, “how’ve you been doing?”
A wounded animal was probably an apt description of Wanda, even if she wouldn’t consider it herself. She just had to keep busy, that was all. Still, she nodded some at the description of gumbo.
“So, something like goulash or muckalica?”
As for spicy well, she was used to spices so that wasn’t something she was too concerned about. Still, having a baseline was a good thing.
In regards to how she had been?
“Work remains work.”
Sad that was all she really had to offer. But that was what happened when she basically only did that, especially now that the tribunal for what happened in her home had been ended so she wasn’t even travelling for that anymore.
“You?”
“Something like that.” Mor only really knew the first, though she’d probably heard of the second at some point because it was vaguely familiar in that ‘I’ve heard this word before’ sort of way.
“Been kept busy with organizing, especially with the influx of funds to repair the shelters. We’ve got so much that even setting aside a rainy day fund I think we can extend services.” Mor had a few ideas on where to extend those services to, but that would require some research.
Well, it was something to go off of at any rate. Something to hold in the back of her mind if nothing else really seemed that interesting. And at least she would have some vague idea of what it might be like if it was similar to goulash or muckalica. Though goulash was certainly the more commonly known type of stew from Eastern Europe.
“Really? That’s great.”
It was always a good sign when there was an influx of funds to do repairs.
“And there are always going to be those in need, so extending services will be a help.”
“I’m considering paying a few interns to help out with some of the logistics,” Mor added. Volunteers were fine but there were things that could only be done with paid help. She’d have to go over the finances as upkeep and administration was always hard to balance in situations like this.
“Work aside, have you been keeping yourself busy?”
Wanda nodded as Morrigan added the comment about interns to help with the logistics.
“That would make sense.”
As for keeping busy outside of work? All Wanda could do was shrug.
“Work is about all I have going on right now.” Or ever, really. There was so much that had to be done, it felt never ending.
“You?”
“I’ve got a few hobbies. I play a tabletop RPG with my cousin and our friends.” She didn’t look it, but she actually really enjoyed it. Mostly because she got to tease the hell out of Cassian and Rhys. “I recommend you find something, I learned the hard way that putting too much into just work is unhealthy.”
She paused, then added, “I don’t recommend my shoe addiction.”
Wanda nodded at the comment. “So I keep getting told. It’s just….finding something.” With so much going on, being pulled in one direction or another, it was hard to find time to do something for herself. She would watch sitcoms, a familiar balm to the chaos that was life but Wanda knew she should probably find more than just that.
Maybe music. Assuming she could focus enough to learn.
