Okay you little--

What: Bliss Plot
When: 2/13
Where: Fremont Street
Ratings/Warnings: PG-13
Status: Complete
Catra loved Fremont Street. Not because of the colours or the noise - though the noise was a nice touch.
No, because it was swarming with suckers. Drunk tourists, drunk locals, people distracted by the lights and the commotion. It was easy pickings, and Catra had already managed to pocket close to two-hundred dollars tonight. Just a couple more victims, and she’d head home.
She bumped into a blonde woman who was walking in the opposite direction of Catra, and her hand slipped into the woman’s pocket...
It was the first time Yang had come downtown since she’d moved out to Las Vegas, and she’d wanted to check out Fremont Street. It was more colorful than she’d expected and had a lot of that old Vegas flair she’d seen in movies on Netflix.
There was a band playing beneath the massive canopy that showed video at night, across the street from a glittering strip club and kitty corner to what appeared to be a man doing some kind of show with paint.
It was when she was distracted by the paint that she felt someone bump into her. She turned around, “Excuse me, sorry about that.”
Something felt off, and she patted her pockets, “Wait.. HEY!”
Well, that certainly wasn’t a promising sound. Catra glanced over her shoulder and saw the blond girl staring at her. Looks like she wasn’t as smooth as she had thought she was. She grinned, then waved her fingertips at the girl, wallet clutched firmly in her palm, before turning and running down the street, managing to weave her way between the pedestrians gracefully.
“Oh I am going to kick her ass,” Yang hissed, sprinting after her. She was a touch less graceful, barreling around like a linebacker, but she had been special forces so she knew how to… wait.
Duh.
Yang rolled her eyes at herself, spotted the direction that the girl had gone in, and took a sharp left, running through one of the alleys between two casinos and emerging on the other side. She reached out to grab Catra with her only hand, “Okay you little--”
Something like a prick struck her shoulder and suddenly she was staring at the hottest woman she’d ever seen. “...princess, where have you been all my life?”
Catra snarled, whirling quickly, prepared to do whatever it took to get free of this woman’s grip, but then her eyes struck Yang’s and instead she froze, a squeak escaping her before she could do anything to stop herself.
She could feel the blush rising to her cheeks.
It had been a while since the last time she had seen Adora, and she had been sure that after Adora had betrayed and abandoned her, she would never feel the same way about anyone else. But then she met this girl, could feel her hand, warm on her arm, and for the moment, she could do nothing but stare dumbly, heart thudding in her chest.
Then, she managed to get ahold of herself, and pulled herself free from the woman’s grasp. “Stealing wallets, obviously,” Catra said, not quite able to look her in the face for fear of losing her voice again. She lobbed the wallet back at her. “I’m Catra.”
Oh, she was hot and adorable. This was a deadly combination. Yang found herself grinning at the woman, beaming really, like the sunny dragon her dad liked to call her.
“Yeah, I noticed. And for you I don’t mind, but I’d like my ID back, I’d hate to miss out on those military discounts.” If she was subtly flexing the bicep on her good arm, she wasn’t going to admit it.
Catra had trouble tearing her eye away from her rippling muscles, but managed to enough to extend the woman’s wallet back to her. “You were in the military?” she asked, managing to tear her eyes away from the bicep to look her in the face again. Somehow, she stopped her heart from leaping out of her throat.
“Thanks.” Yang took her wallet and slipped it back into her jeans, “Yeah, Navy, I was special forces..” She puffed her chest out in pride, which probably made her shirt strain. But she’d just met this woman and she’d kill or die for her.
That was normal, right? “Are you… I mean…” Well she was a thief, so she can’t have the best living conditions, right? “Do you want to get lunch? Or a drink?”
Catra patted her pocket. She had probably managed to lift enough cash tonight to pay for a meal and some drinks. She wasn’t twenty-one yet, but suddenly she was worried about mentioning that in case it made this gorgeous woman want to stop hanging out with her. She was pretty sure she had a bad fake ID on her too - a driver’s license Catra had managed to steal from a woman who could almost look like Catra if you were to squint at it.
“Yeah, that would be nice,” Catra said, beaming at her.
“Awesome, there’s … a lot of choices around here, actually,” Yang glanced around, then pointed at what looked like an old fashioned burger joint. She wondered if they still did that shared drink think like in old cartoons. That might be pretty romantic and when she looked at Catra again her heart did several flips and her libido spun into overdrive.
She worked at a strip club and only a few of the dancers made her feel like this and it wasn’t like she was in love with any of them or anything. Really!
“...Burger? We can get a beer after or something.” Then she realized she knew Catra’s name but hadn’t given her own, “I’m Yang.”
"I could use a burger." Adora used to joke that Catra was a carnivore with how much meat she liked to eat, but meat was expensive, and she and Caleb has been living off leftovers from his work and instant ramen.
Yang. That was a nice name. It sounded strangely happy for a name, which made sense because just seeing Yang made Catra happy. She reached for Yang's hand as they started toward the burger shop that Yang had pointed out, hoping Yang wouldn't pull away from her.
“Great!” Yang flushed when Catra grabbed her hand, which left her without an extra one to use but she didn’t mind. It was worth it, since Catra’s hand was warm and she was holding her hand!
Oh god she was holding her hand.
Yang swallowed, “I heard once this place does something like… super awesome with bacon on their burgers. I think it’s some kind of BBQ sauce.”
“Oh yeah? I like barbeque sauce,” Catra said, and then inwardly cursed at herself. Her initial shock at seeing this perfect human being in front of her was wearing off, and here she was, still talking about barbeque sauce like some kind of idiot.
They might have been in the middle of the road, but Catra stopped and turned. “Listen, Yang, I’m just going to come right out and say it. I like you. Like, like like you. I know we only just met but… I don’t know, I guess I’m kind of hoping that you feel the same way about me.”
Yang flushed, cheeks turning the color of her eyes when she was angry. But Catra was adorable and amazing and honestly she could probably break her on accident if she wasn’t careful (or suffocate her when trying to hug her) but that was getting ahead of herself.
“Like you? I feel like I’m head over heels!” Yang laughed and oh god oh god she’d just said that out loud. Suddenly, stepping into traffic sounded like a good idea.
“Goof,” Catra said affectionately. Yang was cute when she was blushing. She laid her hand on Yang’s cheek and moved in a little, hesitating a little, wondering if Yang would pull away from her or not.
Yang darted her eyes across Catra’s face, then closed the distance between them, hoping she was reading the situation right and also hoping there’d be all that sweeping music and blowing flower petals that usually accompanied such scenes.
There may have been sweeping music that accompanied the kiss - as far as Catra was concerned, they deserved it. If there was however, it was lost in the din of someone laying on their horn. Catra kept the kiss going for a little bit longer, then broke the kiss, flipped the bird at the irate driver they were standing in front of, and then grabbed Yang by her hand, giggling as she pulled her off the road.
Oh, it was probably the best kiss Yang had ever had. It was also probably her first, but right now she was having trouble thinking straight, a stupid little grin on her face as she was dragged along. “I’d flip them off too but you have my finger occupied and I left my saluting arm on the other side of the world.”
Give Yang a chance and she’d make all the arm puns.
“Don’t worry, I have enough middle fingers for the both of us,” Catra said, grinning, heart racing. She felt like she could do just about anything right now. “Did you lose it when you were in the military?” she asked, her eyes flicking briefly to Yang’s missing arm before jumping back to her face. She asked nonchalantly, as if she didn’t care much whether or not Yang answered her, and she didn’t, not really. If there was something Yang didn’t want to talk about, Catra wasn’t about to force it. Though she did want to know.
“Yeah,” Yang said, though she wasn’t sure she wanted to elaborate. What if that chased away this amazing woman? Besides, she really didn’t like to go into detail about that entire thing, “It’s why I’m ex-military, can’t do some of the stuff I was doing with only my arm and my teeth.” She winked, “Though I probably could."
Catra wouldn't pry if Yang didn't want to elaborate. It wasn't as if she planned to go into all sorts of detail about her own past, and she wasn't going to force Yang to do that either.
She did feel the heat rising to her cheeks at Yang's next comment. "Yeah I bet you could," she said, not quite able to meet Yang's eyes, trying not to think too hard about what Yang could do with her arm and teeth. She pushed her shoulder lightly. "Dork," she added.
“Damn.” Yang grinned at her, studying her face intently, “You’ve already figured out my middle name. Yang Dork Xiao Long.” Impressing girls by being a dork worked, right? She hoped?
She lifted her hand, tenderly touching Catra’s cheek, “Lets get those burgers then hang out. And stuff. Okay?”
Catra leaned her cheek into Yang’s hand, letting her eyes fall shut for just a moment, letting herself enjoy the moment. “Okay,” Catra agreed, opening her eyes and smiling at Yang. “That sounds good.”
