WHO: Raina & "The Doctor"
WHAT: They've arrived back in New York. Now what?
WHEN: November 1st; Late Evening
WHERE: their Manhattan lab
RATING: PG-13
STATUS: Narrative; COMPLETE
Raina probably should have known better than to promise something she couldn't immediately deliver. Whatever she had been feeding Skye about him being willing to wait until she was ready, Raina knew all too well just how much his impatience fed into his worst moods. The flight had been nearly unbearable, her having to keep a firm hold on him and make sure that he didn't lose his temper over the ocean and kill all of them without meaning to. But now that they were back on the ground, that it was just the two of them in the large, empty lab that they had left behind in order to sure up their defenses against SHIELD, whatever patience he might have mustered for the sake of not killing them all had faded.
And Raina was left having to make good on the deal she had promised.
But first, she felt inclined to make good on her own deal. She'd been working on it since Simmons had sent her the specifications, but several lab trials later, she was only just now feeling assured that she was achieving the results that she had aimed for. Improvement, focused primarily in the areas that dealt with muscle control and motor coordination, but with a few...surprises thrown in for good measure. After all, limited situational memory recall? That couldn't be good for Fitz's long term emotional development.
"Shouldn't we be dealing with my daughter, Raina, not your brain damaged lab rat?" The voice made her jump, but Raina was able to hold on to the final dosage she'd been able to work up. Turning to face her benefactor, Raina managed a quiet smile.
"I was just about to do that," She said, quietly placing the vial into a shatter proof container before setting it back on the table next to her. "I was hoping the delay would make her all that more eager. If we make it too easy, she might change her mind again."
"Enough of your games!" The fist that slammed down on the table caused her to flinch, her eyes closing briefly as she held her breath. "And enough of your excuses. Get me my daughter, Raina. Or I might have to lose my temper."
