Gym class. Not Kamala's favorite class. Not because she wasn't athletic--she ran the mile in the appropriate time allotted. No, it was because any type of sport the class participated in made her control over her powers unpredictable. Her reflexes often got in the way, activating her shrinking or growing abilities. If the sport of choice was a contact sport, she was in huge trouble. At her old school, Kamala could hide among the other students or use some made up excuse about Muslims women not being able to touch footballs because they were made out of pig skin. The stereotypes, ignorant and completely ridiculous, about her people came in handy from time to time. But here, as the new girl in a less populated school, there would be little hiding. And the gym teachers appeared to take their jobs much more seriously.
So when she learned that the class would be playing field hockey, Kamala worried. Accidents could happen and to make things more difficult, Kate Bishop was in her same period. She had been great person to talk to but Kamala hadn't gotten comfortable enough to tell her about her powers. Even though she was friends with the Avengers, telling someone that you can change shape and heal really fast just isn't something you want to throw.
After changing into her P.E. clothes, Kamala stood around nervously. Today was going to be interesting.
