"I can't help it," Roman replied with a touch of desperation, "you try growing up in a household where even your own fucking mother is out to get you. It doesn't lend to the best psychological well-being, okay? Shit!" So he might not have anything to feel threatened about this time but whenever relationships of any type were challenged it made him uneasy and his connection to Peter was the most important one he'd made in a really long time. If not ever. "I can't help if if I'm pretty fucking sure I'm gonna loose you at some point," he said finally getting real with Peter, "it might not be to Sam, but it's gonna be someone." What Roman would do when that happened, he had no fucking clue.
He cringed when Peter finally used the J-word, but he didn't deny it. After the way he'd been behaving it would be hard to, though Roman wasn't going to wallow in it either. He looked at Peter and shrugged, "maybe. You. me and Miranda felt right, you know?" he scowled past his objections, knowing they'd be coming soon enough and just ploughed on, "it feels even better without Miranda," at least, that's how Roman felt. "And no, I don't know exactly what the fuck I'm suggesting right now, or even what I'm feeling, so I don't expect you to know either," it was all one big confused mess in his head. He gave a nod of understanding, "I get it, alright? I'd rather think Shelley was out there somewhere too," even though that would mean his Mother was plotting still, "I just know what my luck's like is all."
Peter had a point there, though Roman wasn't entirely clear why they were pushed together. It couldn't just be the dreams that made them similar, or their strange nature. "I guess I don't trust here any more than I trust home," he said more softly, taking a toke of the joint as they passed it back and forth. "Yeah, it's a fucking super-power," Roman said finally smirking towards Peter, "better than smelling blood at twenty paces, that's for damn sure!" He knew Peter was right, he had to get a grip of his temper, not to mention his nerves, but it was easier said than done. "I'll try, alright? But I can't promise miracles," he said with a shrug of his shoulders.
