Gabriel was always smart, so that means Sylar is too. He's likely realized he has no idea what he's dealing with either, that could buy us some time.

We've all got people who make us tunnel-vision, god knows I have. And I'd hope if any of them came to town, I'd step aside, but I know I'd likely charge in angrily. Which is why you've got to make sure Nathan lets you take charge on this. I can't follow his orders if I think they'll put people in jeopardy. We cannot allow personal revenge put this whole city at risk. I know it's easy for me to sit here and say this, Sylar's never hurt me, but that's why it's got to be you, not them.
I've heard the stories. And we have no way of knowing what Sylar's state of mind is right now and if he'd go that extreme. We treat this delicately, and not go screaming for his head on a platter.
And if that means locking the three of them up, we may have to. I don't like this any more than you do, and you know you'll have me backing you, every step of the way.
