Yeah, which is why you kinda have to weigh the worth of it against the right or wrong of it. It's like with Dean, when I know he needs to talk but he won't do it on his own, we have a drinking night and then he starts talking. It's not exactly fair, but it's what he needs in order to be helped, so sometimes invading someone's privacy might be the same.
As for why they'd filter it? I don't know. Maybe because were were all reading what they said and seeing something different than what Sam said it was?
The toy version of anything you'd find cool, basically. Like a Nerf crossbow or something like that - all the coolness of weapons without him shooting himself in the foot before he's ready to handle one.
