Dyson might have grown used to modern conveniences, but this was hardly his first time living with limited resources. He'd grown up in an era long before electricity and indoor plumbing existed. Having to go without those things was something in his distant past, but that didn't mean he didn't know how to live roughly. Hell, there were times he didn't even live in his human-like form. Shifting into a wolf form and living as an animal for awhile could make everything seem simpler. There were times Dyson had needed the clarity that brought him. He'd built a simple shelter with some of the materials he'd been able to get his hands on here. It was little more than a tent, but it suited him just fine. He didn't strictly need the protection from the elements that humans did. Dyson's fae genetics made him immune to most human diseases. He wasn't going to catch a cold from getting too cold or too wet. Having something to shelter him was more a matter of vanity than anything else. Dyson's instincts were that of the lone wolf, but he knew he needed to do his part here. Helping to rebuild a society meant pitching in and getting to know the other volunteers. Sometimes, that meant lending a hand with the general construction that was going on. Today, it meant he was on his way to the community center. to see who was around. It was nearing dinner time and he thought he might lend a hand with the cooking or he might just attempt to be social and make some more friends. Or maybe, if he was lucky, he'd manage to run into Diana again. By his best count it had been close to two weeks since he'd met her at one of the bonfires. They'd left that night to explore the island and he definitely wouldn't mind repeating the experience if she happened to be around. |
