"Yeah, but I'd prefer it come back to me before a lot of smoke in my face," Lydia laughed. "I know a lot of things, you know? I read a lot. But living it is different. I feel like I'm going to be reminded of a lot of things I already knew in the back of my mind by screwing up in a way I wouldn't if those things were in the forefront of my mind, you know what I mean? So that'll be sufficiently embarrassing; thanks for helping me prevent at least one occasion of it," she added.
Another smile crossed Lydia's expression. "Well, nice to meet you, Sara."
Lydia's lips pressed together in thought for a second when Sara asked. "Both," she replied. "But since you're making weapons right now, then making weapons," she clarified. "If that's okay." It was a bit much to assume that she could talk a woman into teaching her valuable skills by batting her eyelashes at them the way she did with the men, especially if that person didn't necessarily feel inclined to teach, anyway. But it was worth a shot, on the off-chance the woman would be willing to try.
