Another little smile that fell sort tugged up at the corners of Lydia's mouth. That was a nice thought. She knew that she meant a lot to Allison, because Lydia knew that she was part of the reason Allison was dead. She had to live with knowing that she hadn't been able to persuade her friend to stay away, that Lydia was so important to her that she'd failed to heed the warning and gone into battle to save her best friend and gave her life for it, in the end. "Maybe you're right," she agreed rather than pushing it or dwelling on it too much.
All of the reasons why cutting the branch off made sense to Lydia when she'd thought of it, but as soon as she'd actually said it out loud, everything that the blond woman was pointing out had started popping into her head. Lydia had the grace to look sheepish. "Yeah, seemed like a good idea at the time, I guess," she conceded, "I knew all of those things, they just didn't actually occur to me until I said the plan out loud. So, hey, thanks for giving me a reason to say it out loud and second guess it," she said with a small smile that was actually sincere. And, Lydia nodded, to show that she understood the points that the other woman was making.
Lydia looked interested when the other woman went on to detail her plans. "...can I help?" she asked. "If you don't mind a total greenhorn trying to learn as she goes, I mean. I'm Lydia, by the way. Sorry, I know I've seen your face on the network, but I can't remember your name. I don't know if we've actually spoken before this..."
