"I wouldn't second guess that too much. She probably did. Try not to create too many doubts about a friendship when there's nothing that can be done to change anything now. You know what she meant to you, right? If you were close, chances are she knew." Sara wasn't much for pep-talks, but she knew what it was like to lose people. Death was nothing new to her. She was rather jaded when it came to that, but poking holes in something as important as best friends, that wasn't going to help this girl.
So. Next to no survival skills then. Fair enough. That wasn't her fault, and at least she was trying. "Careful not to do that too often. We need those blossoms for pollination. Cutting the branches mean less fruit can grow back." Sara put down her bow, and walked over to her own small pile of firewood, though she didn't have one going right now. "You'll want firewood that isn't that fresh. If it's too green, right from the tree, it will create a lot of smoke. A little damp is fine, and go for fresh wood if you really can't find anything else. But dry wood burns the best."
She could see where the girl was going with this in her head. But if she wanted to learn to build a fire, she might as well know the best wood to do it. "Weapons." Sara responded, looking down at her bow. "The ones I arrived with are dull, for some reason. Hunting will be easier with a bow anyway. I'll make a better one later, but I need something to get me started. We need meat, and I have plans for the hide, fur and bones."
