Lydia finished with her current shoot and set it down to her left, reaching for another unfinished one on her right and getting to work on that. She wasn't really sure if she was asking too much too soon, but in this place, Lydia felt like she wanted to be a sponge soaking up anything and everything that others were willing to teach her. She'd learned to make a fishing net, although she wasn't entirely sure she would be able to replicate the process anywhere near as well as Finnick could make his own. She'd learned to fish with it — also something she doubted she could do without his help, but it was a start. Sara was willing to show her to make and use a bow. Lydia didn't want to press her luck.
But then Sara kept talking and Lydia started to feel better about asking. She didn't stop working at the task at hand, but she did look up from it to glance up at the other woman. "I'm not looking for nice," Lydia replied bluntly, "I'm looking for good. I might need someone patient enough to push me and not give up on me, because I've never done anything like this before and, up until recently, I never thought I'd have to. But if you can push me, then I want to try," she said.
Her eyes moved back down as she finished the short job on the current shoot, setting it aside and grabbing another. "And I can work hard. It takes a lot to make me want to give up when I set my mind to something. No one and nothing's succeeded in doing so, yet."
