Phil smiled, pleased but not surprised that she'd connected the dots. "I am. And she did, but not without a lot of risk and injury on both our parts." It was the very reason why he'd never wanted to hide his being alive from Natasha and Clint. But they'd gone for months believing it and their attention had been needed elsewhere. He was just lucky that she had forgiven him for it, and that he could have that relationship here on the island. Phil hoped that if Luke showed up, Mara'd get the chance to see for herself that things weren't so bad, that they could be okay.
"Don't worry about what's happening in Parker's world or the books or anything like that," Phil added, hoping it would reassure her that she could absolutely have a life separate from what he knew from the Star Wars films. He wasn't familiar with the books that Peter might've been referring to, but that didn't matter because Mara was the important part in all of this. Her happiness was what mattered the most. "
This place is for us to get away from the world we come from. Anyone who doesn't want to let you have that? You can tell to mind their own damn business, and if they still give you problems? Point me their way." Phil would protect Mara however he could, and if that meant reminding someone of basic human decency, he was more than happy to do it. Anything short of getting himself kicked off the island was fair game as far as he was concerned.
"If Luke does come back, I hope it works out that you're happy, Mara." That was all he really wanted.
