Rose was surprised when Mara's answer so closely reflected the one she would give if she felt like being very honest about it. She would never actually admit out loud that she wanted freedom to do what she wanted and love who she wanted. Not that it mattered anymore. Dimitri didn't want to be with her now. Duty was no longer the thing keeping them apart.
Still, she could totally relate to what Mara had said. The idea of being able to relax, of not having to constantly watch out for strigoi and be prepared to throw herself in between any threat and the moroi, that did sound like paradise. Rose loved Lissa, but sometimes she just wanted to have her own life.
Of course, now she'd settle for not being wanted for murder. She figured having her own life wasn't going to happen at home anytime soon, which was why she was kind of glad to be here.
"I know what you mean," she said, nodding her head. Is that how it is here? There's really nothing to fight?"
