It wasn't something Mara had ever really considered. She was pretty sure that the life she'd been living was definitely not it but she also knew things could be a lot worse. "I really don't know what my idea of paradise is," she admitted. "I guess a place where I don't have to always be on my guard, where I'm free to be myself."
Mara was surprised at the words that came out of her mouth. She'd been trained to share very little of herself and what she'd just said was easily the most open she'd ever been with someone she didn't know. There was something about Rose though, she'd sensed it from the beginning. She wasn't dangerous and there were things about her that reminded Mara of herself.
