After the discomfort of waking up covered in snow and being stuck in the community center with most of the population of the island for a week, Octavia realized that she was going to need an actual shelter. She wasn't sure if she wanted to live in communal housing, though she could understand why some people might, and she spent some time exploring the island, looking for a spot where she would be comfortable. Her explorations led her to a series of small caves near the waterfall and she decided that one of them would be a suitable place for her to live.
She really didn't have much in the way of belongings, but she brought all of her things there and then decided to go and pick some fruit and nuts so she would have a little stash of her own for the times when she didn't feel like eating with the group. As much as she liked everyone here, she did appreciate having time and space to herself. Living off the land reminded her of her life with Lincoln and, while there would always be a place in her heart that belonged to him, she was able to think of him without the searing pain she experienced when he was executed.
While she filled the small basket that Finnick made her, she thought again about if she was ready to have a baby for Arva. Isaac seemed to be planning on fathering someone else's baby and while he was capable of fathering hers as well, she wasn't sure if he would want to have two expectant mothers at the same time. That meant she would need to consider her other options. She was so caught up in her thoughts that when she heard footfalls behind her, she startled, only to relax again when she realized it was Clarke. They hadn't talked much since the other girl arrived and Octavia knew it was only a matter of time before they ran into each other. The island wasn't that big.
