"Yeah, pretty much," Lydia replied simply. That was the general idea. And, after talking to the goddess Arva, Lydia realized that she had information that was especially useful and she may or may not share it until she'd already conceived, just to keep ahead of the curve.
She smiled at Stiles and rolled her eyes a little. "Sweetie, do I look like I need to do that?" she asked. "No. I'm not going to run a personal ad on the network, I don't need to. She's looking for one person who all inclusively encompasses everything she's looking for. That's intimidating to people; I'll be surprised if she finds it, especially since it suggests that she's looking for a mate, whether that's her intention or not. No."
Lydia took a deep breath and sighed softly. He wasn't getting it. "Stiles...if I'm going to be the best, that means I have to be the first and I have to spread good genes. Because she's clearly looking for a physically apt candidate, the logical course of action for me would be to aim for a balancing one. So I'm not looking for that. I can find someone to build me a shelter and someone else to find me food and someone else to protect me. Right now, I need someone who will be willing to jump straight to making babies, forgoing that whole sex-for-fun thing and I need it to be someone that I know will take care of me, because it's going to happen faster than people think; I talked to the goddess of fertility."
Lydia stopped again and looked him in the eye, lifting her eyebrows. "Are you following me on this, or are you not?"
