Steve listened. He'd always been a good listener, but it was hard to hear the things the KGB did to Natasha for the sake of the perfect operatives. His heart broke for her, but he also knew that she was strong enough that she'd find everything she was looking for and then some. It just took time. It meant a lot to him that she would share all of this with him, that she trusted him.
"It's natural to feel jealous, but you'll find what you're looking for," he promised. Steve gave her a warm smile as he clasped his hands behind his back. Otherwise, he was probably going to hug her and he wasn't sure if she was ready for that. "Everyone seems very...welcoming. I didn't think I'd enjoy that part of being here, but it isn't so bad," Steve added with a chuckle, thinking of his time in the waterfall with Lustre. There was a very small thought, in the very back of his mind, that wondered what if, recalling the kiss she'd laid on him at the mall, but this wasn't the time.
"Bucky's safe," he agreed with a nod. "And I was a fugitive back home. I wanted to do good, away from the mantle of Captain America." If anyone could understand, it was Natasha. "It was too good of an opportunity to pass up, to come here and help create a new society. I wasn't so sure how I'd do with the Sex Island part but-" he shrugged, "I've always been a pretty fast learner."
