So, apparently survival? Not Cam's forte. Not even close. But he'd gotten lucky and woken up near fresh water and a water fall, so there was that. If nothing else, he'd found fresh water. By sheer, dumb luck maybe, but still. Fresh water. While he'd been talking to Sara, between messages, Cam had taken off his shirt and started gathering little stones from the edge of the lake and when he started walking to meet Finnick, he went carrying the shirt full of stones, leaving a trail behind himself so that they could find their way back to it. Finnick, whoever he was, might be better at navigating in the wilderness than Cam, but if Cam assumed that he was and he didn't turn out to be, then that was just asking for them both to get lost and Cam wasn't going to let that happen if the alternative was driven by something as simple as leaving a trail of freaking rocks to follow back. "Finnick!" he called out as loudly as he could, and Cam couldn't help thinking to himself that it sounded weird to be calling out for someone he didn't even know and had yet to meet. He was quiet then, for a moment, as he kept walking with the sun on his back, dropping little clusters of rocks every few feet. He didn't hear the other man call back. After a short while, Cam started to worry that he'd followed the directions incorrectly and gotten himself lost. The bracelet made a little beeping sound and Cam moved the shirt from one hand to the other and with his newly free hand, held his arm out and flicked his wrist to turn on the projection. Finnick's message said to stay put. So, Cam set down the shirt full of rocks and sat down, wiping his forehead with his arm before calling out to Finnick again just so that the other man would still have the sound to follow. |
