Who: Link and OPEN
What: Link being a loner, help break him out of that!
Where: The pool by the water fall.
When: 7/20/2016
Warnings: Naked Hylian? Otherwise TBD.
Status: Open | Ongoing

Habit and years of solitude were the reason Link had brought his sword and shield with him to what should be a relaxing dip into the pool. He had learned, from his time wandering, that whenever he was alone he should always have his weapons with him just in case. It was the mindset of a warrior who had been far too young to learn anything of the world before he was thrust into saving it. It was the mindset of a young man who had learned his destiny was to always be summoned and then to vanish into nothingness until called upon again. It would be a sad life to anyone aware there was much more to it than that, but his youth and mentality had come to give Link a perspective that made him perfect for that lifestyle.

His sword and shield were set against the tree next to him, and he began to remove his outfit. T-shirt and a pair of shorts he'd come to wear since arriving, setting them next to his equipment. Stripping completely, he didn't bother to look around him, having become accustomed to the idea of being alone, that it wasn't something he thought too much of anymore. His torso was highly fit and showed a life of adventuring and combat; there were scars there, marred skin that showed the extent of his injuries. Sword cuts, burn marks, bite marks, and so on and so forth. An earring in his left pointed ear, and a few tattoos here and there showed a personality that might be otherwise hidden from the quiet kid.

Leaping from the shore, Link hit the water in a nosedive, going deep beneath the waves of the reflective pool, kicking low, before coming up and shaking his long locks of hair out as he came free of the top of the waves. Treading water as he looked around with deep breath, then began to swim back and forth across the pond, deciding to get a bit of exercise in while he had some time.

There were new faces on the island, and babies being formed. Lailah could sense the excitement throughout those that were living here. The angel hadn't met some of the new people yet, and felt bad about that. She tried to introduce herself but sometimes it didn't work so well for as awkward as she still was with mortal interactions.

It never really got her down, however. There was so much beauty on the island. She enjoyed walking through the forest, going farther with each foray. Her intention today was to explore other parts of the island no one had seen yet. She only got as far as the waterfall before something leaning against a tree caught her attention.

It was a sword. There was a shield there too, but the sword interested her the most. The last sword she had seen had belonged to her brother Michael. Lailah wrinkled her nose at the thought as she picked up the blade by the hilt to inspect it.

Movement in the water drew her eyes there and she tilted her head to see the young man. She smiled as she held the sword up. "Is this yours?"

Link continued to soak in the water as he swam back and forth, between the long stretches between shores with a swiftness that exemplified his experience. He wished he had the Zora Tunic that helped him swim even better, but he was definitely pleased with his movements nonetheless. He was making decent time, and the water felt nice after a warm day.

When he came back again, he heard the voice of someone talking to him and he looked up to spot the girl standing there with his sword in hand. The adventurer in Link chastised himself for leaving his weapons so easily attainable. He wasn't even worried, at first about the fact he was naked and his clothes were so far away. He was just worried about her having his sword. The blade a long, solidly forged thing, the Triforce emblazoned near the purple hilt, ornate in its designs. It was definitely a sword of legend.

He stared up at her with widened blue eyes a moment, reaching up to pull some of his blonde hair out of his face, and he finally tilted his head to the side, "It is. Be careful, that thing does have ... power to it. I don't know what it would do in another's hands."

Lailah looked at the sword as if expecting it to do something. When it didn't she looked back to the young man in the water. "It is a very nice sword, but I think it is ignoring me."

She put it back with the shield then sat down on the bank by the edge of the pool. "I am Lailah."

Link watched her set it down, and then smiled as he looked at her a bit, "I don't think it's ignoring you, it just probably wouldn't work right. Or, well, I don't know, maybe it works fine with everyone I was just the only one who could find it. It's never been made very clear to me," Link continued to smile when she moved to sit down at the edge of the pool.

He swam a bit closer to her, hesitant only because he was naked beneath the water, but figured he was glad the important bits were covered beneath the pool's waves. He tilted his head to the side though while looking at her and offered a wave, "I'm Link, it's a pleasure to meet you Lailah."

The little sundress she wore covered the necessities but left her legs bare. She wasn't used to wearing a dress, obviously, since all she did was sit in lotus. There were no shoes on her feet, but that didn't seem to bother her.

"Link," she said as if tasting something she never had before. A puzzled expression settled on her face. "I do not know what you are. You look human."

Link continued to tread water, and he neared an area of the shore that was slightly to the left of her but had a dip in it, allowing him to keep his waist beneath the waves while setting his forearms on the shore, looking up at her.

As he came to rest there, his brow raised at her question then nodded, "Right, well yes... sort of look human," He gestured towards his rather pointy ears, then shrugged his shoulders, "I'm essentially human. I'm a Hylian, we come from the same line essentially, Hylians are just more connected to the Goddess Hylia, and as such, we have access to magic, though only mildly so."

Lailah leaned forward to peer at his ears and found them charming. A delighted smile came to her face as she listened to his explanation. It still made no sense to her, but that didn't matter.

"Magic," she said in a mystified voice. "Can you show me?" For all the world, she looked like a child asking to see something incredible.

Link blinked a bit and then looked around when she asked about him showing her magic. He frowned a bit, then gestured her forward, "I don't really have magic, persay, I can't create or cast spells in any way, but I can use magical items. The spells, the magic, that was mostly Zelda and Midna, friends of mine..."

He frowned, then held his hand up towards her. The back of his left hand shown to her where three triangles were touching together, two faded and one filled in. It looked almost like a tattoo, but then it seemed to be very much apart of his skin.

"That can glow, at times, under special circumstances. It's a Triforce, which is a connection to the power of the gods of my world."

Lailah leaned forward to look at the hand he held out and tilted her head at the marks there. They were fascinating. She didn't sense anything from them, but as he explained she realized why. She was in no way connected with his gods.

Link got a mystified smile from her as she lounged down on the soft grass of the bank which put her a little closer to him. "It is beautiful. Does it work here?"

"I don't know about works... it's odd, it doesn't project spells or cast anything. But it seems to work, I don't feel any different, I feel the same, and that likely means it's working," He shrugged and laughed, "It's hard to explain. It's called the Triforce of Courage, and it gives me the strength to overcome and take on things far more terrifying and grander than myself. I can overcome dark magic that is taking over so many others in my world, or was, and so I guess I don't know for sure if it's working, but I assume so."

He then looked up at her with a smile and raised a brow, "How about you, do you know any magic?"

"That sounds very useful!" Lailah could think of a number of people who would find that very beneficial. "You must be a great hero in your world."

Abashed, she shook her head a little. "No. I'm just an angel."

"No, I just do what is asked of me, and what is necessary," He smiled then raised a brow, watching her, "What's an angel?"

He hadn't heard of such things before, curious if it meant she was like him, another subsect of human; or, if she was another species, like the Zoras and the Gorons--though she most assuredly didn't look un-humanlike. She was very pretty, after all, easy on the eyes. Then again, maybe she was another species that simply looked human-ish.

"Is that your job or your species?"

"Not many people do that, however." It made her sad and that showed in her eyes. People should help each other, she thought. They were all the same after all.

She smiled then. It had been a long time since she had to explain what she was. "A celestial being. A servant of Jehovah, the god of the Hebrews and Christians. A species for lack of a better term."

Link lifted his hands to brush his long hair back out of his face and behind him, tilting his head as he watched her, "People are scared, confrontation is dangerous, not everyone is cut out for it. It would be nice if everyone helped each other out, but I understand why they don't always..."

He then smiled, "A celestial being? Then you have to have some form of magic. And a single god for two groups of people? Curious, what of the other gods, or groups, do they just operate separately? And you're a servant for him, what does that entail?"

Lailah chuckled as she shook her head again. "No. All of the things I could do that were part of my function were left in my home." Which was kind of a pity since what she did was teach the unborn the secrets of the universe.

Then she sighed, a sad expression settling upon her features. "My Father hasn't spoken to any of us in a very long time. I haven't had any interactions with other deities so I'm not certain what they do."

Link frowned watching her new expression, one that seemed sad, and raised a brow, "Is your father the god you speak of? Why wouldn't he speak to you, and if he doesn't speak, who do you serve? Is that... why you came here?"

He was curious after all, and realized he was probably asking a bit too many questions. He then smiled, "And what was your duty to him before he stopped talking to you all?"

Lailah chuckled with an amused smile for all his questions. She didn't mind. She rather enjoyed his curiosity. She rarely had the opportunity to speak about herself after someone learned what she was.

"I don't know why Father stopped talking to us. No one knows, really. As for who we serve...we serve His greatest creation. The humans. That was His last order to us and what started the war."

Lailah sighed then. She missed performing her function. "My function was to teach the unborn the secrets of the universe then make them forget before they were born. This way they discover and remember through their lives."

Link was growing more and more comfortable around Lailah and swam closer to the surface as he neared her, looking up at her, then blinked a couple of times listening to her, "The humans? Well that's great. So you serve those who would have less power than you, that's a great thing really. What war was there, if you don't mind talking about it? And why teach about the Universe if you're going to make them forget anyway?"

He then swam backwards some and laughed, "Would you want to join me, by the way? The water's nice, and if we're going to be talking might as well be on level playing field."

"Yes," she said with a cheerful smile, happy that he understood. Thinking about the war made her smile flee, however. "Some of my siblings were jealous of how much our Father loved the humans. They didn't feel we should serve them like that. Arguments became war. I didn't take a side."

Her smile returned some as she sat up. "Yes," she said brightly. "I think I would. Thank you."

And without warning she was wriggling out of her sundress revealing she was wearing nothing else then dove into the water.

"Jealousy is a dangerous emotion, far more so than anger or hatred, I feel it can actually mostly lead to those. It makes you irrational," Link frowned shaking his head, "But it's good of you not to take a side, sides are dangerous unless necessary, and even..."

When she began to pull off her sundress, Link blinked a few times and was chastising himself inwardly about how he should definitely avert his eyes, but instead he watched her completely as she stripped bare, and then leaped into the water with him.

Waiting for her to come up again, he grinned and watched her, "You are very beautiful."

Lailah surfaced with a smile on her face. She liked swimming. It reminded her of what she had done before she'd been cast out, dwelling in the womb with the unborn. It was peaceful.

Link's words softened her smile as she smoothed her hands over her hair. "Thank you. So are you."

Link smiled and nodded, "thank you as well.." He watched her a moment, then began to swim out further into the pool, looking back at her, "So you're not human either. Like me I suppose. What's it like being on an island full of them? Have you lived with them long?"

He twisted about and watched her, treading in the middle of the deep pool, "Do you... experience human emotions, feelings? Or is it different?"

Lailah glided through the water, following Link as they spoke. She seemed as natural in the water as she does on land.

"I had only been in their world a month before I came here," she said. "This body is human. I am simply borrowing it. The original occupant has moved on. It is strange for me to live among them, but I find it fascinating. And yes, I have emotions similar to humans. There are differences, however. I do not need to eat or sleep."

"No eating or sleeping? Do you do it anyway? Eat that is? Because it smells good, or looks good? Something like that?" He stopped to tread water, and swam a bit closer to her as he grinned, then tilted his head, "So the body's 'occupant' has died? That doesn't weird you out at all?"

He stopped near her while he watched her, "Well you picked a very beautiful body, was that by choice I wonder?"

"I eat," she said with a nod of agreement, "for just those reasons. I have a special preference for berries."

"No," she chuckled, her smile lifting when Link got closer. "Humans die. She had a very terrible disease in her brain that kept her from living fully. What would be awful would be if she were still alive, in here with me."

Then her smile brightened even more as she laughed. "No. I didn't know this vessel was considered beautiful when I chose her. Her soul was beautiful. She was very kind."

"Oh? That must be nice, eating without fear of growing fat or consequences to that food being eaten. You have it all," He joked of course, grinning while he watched her, then laughed, "Well I guess, yes, they do. Still, it'd feel odd to me. But then again, I don't do it, so maybe that's why."

He nodded at that thought of two people trapped in the same body, and shivered at the image, but then just smirked looking back up at her, "I'm glad she was great, and i'm also kind of glad you chose beautiful on accident. Good for you."

Lailah didn't understand the social convention against getting fat so she just laughed along with Link. "My true form, the true form of all angels, is...difficult for humans to look at. It would injure them. This is why we choose a vessel to inhabit when we wish to walk among them."

She smiled back at him wondering if he was flirting with her. That was still difficult for her to recognize. "It seems to appeal to people here."
